Donald Trump, the road that might not lead to the White House!

How could anyone live through the presidency of G.W. Bush & say it doesn't matter who wins? It matters immensely.

That's what they said in 2008. "Let's all vote for Obama! He may not be perfect, but at least he'd better than Bush! At least he'll close Guantanamo and end the wars in the Middle East."

Eight years later plus ca change. These decisions are not made by politicians. When will people wake up?

Different candidates represent different aspects of capital and there are differences amongst those. Not necessarily for better or worse but those throwing cash at Cruz have different demands from those throwing cash at Clinton. Not to say that they both won't excersize power over whoever wins, but minimal as it is there is some value on where you choose to place your vote.

There's also social policy, with the clear differences there that to a large degree capital doesn't much care about. Gay marriage, abortion rights, drug legislation. All things a vote in the US can change.

Let's imagine a Trump presidency facing off the problems of a Putin led Russia who's economy is going down the plug hole and China who's artificial growth rate ( and with it, the hopes of millions of its people) is coming in to a crash landing.
Just try imagining Trump in the centre of this perfect 'political storm'

But Peabody mining and the Koch brothers have suffered under Obama and the direction on environmental issues have greatly changed direction under his presidency, give the bloke his due.

There'd be nothing like Obamacare if Republicans had been in the White House these past 8 years.

Does he have any taboos? When will he come out with wanting to bomb Muslim countrys?

In that other thread, you said that America was a 'true democracy', where the politicians must carry out the will of the voters.

Which is it?

There's no contradiction there. It's a democracy at the local level, and an oligarchy at the national level. The UK is an oligarchy at both levels.

Trump clearly refuses to listen to suggestions from a woman.

Actually think Trump comes out of that well. Trying to hold things up and trying to help Carson not look like the chump. Don't blame Cruz orBush for walking past either, its the production crew that fucked up

Apparently Bloomberg is considering running as an independent. Yesterday I was watching a discussion with David Harvey recorded in November where he said something like 'If things get too out of hand with Trump I predict Wall Street will put Bloomberg up as an independent.' Seriously interesting and weird election this.

Yeah, although Harvey suggested that he would run in opposition to Killary Klinton but iirc Bloomberg has said that he will only run if Sanders wins the nomination.

That being said, a lot of capital threw their lot behind Obama because they thought that Hillary wouldn't win if she got the nomination. A Trump, Clinton, Bloomberg election would be a grotesque demonstration of oligarch control.

Bloomberg is 50/1 at Paddy Power at the moment, when he was 25/1 last week. I'd have thought his only chance is in a standoff between Sanders and either Cruz or Trump, but despite last week, Clinton's odds have shortened to 5/6. Maybe the punters know something. This is a fascinating election.
