So..a lifelong Democrat seemingly all but wins the Republican nomination...already senior republicans are now openly backing Clinton.

Top McCain aide says he'd back Clinton over Trump - CNNPolitics.com

If he's accused Cruzs nut job dad of being involved in the JFK assassination what the hell is he going to be like when it comes to a showdown with the Clintons ? Given the swirl of accusations against her and her husband over the years ?

He finances himself so there's nobody to tell him what to say or not to say . And one of his advisors has authored a book called " the clintons war on women " , which is pretty outrageous .

Expect accusations of all sorts , including murders and drug running . It's going to be a total wtf fest. Mark my words . It's just getting interesting now .

And Berne sanders won Indiana as well . Probably still not enough though .

Would Clinton really be any better? In fact as a Washington insider she would be worse in some ways as she would be better at greasing palms, pandering to people and otherwise getting what she wants for herself and those who share her interests.

Trump is financing himself in the primaries. But he's said he might accept super PAC (big money) donations in the general election, which means he will. And yes, now's when it gets interesting. Two ruthless well financed SOBs both of whom have very high unfavorable ratings will throw everything they have at each other. I think Hillary will win. The Donald has managed to alienate all groups except white christian males & he can't win with just them.

Doesn't he just get the crocked toothed, 6 fingered, cousin missing mutant whiteboy demographic which makes up a sizeable portion of the Republican vote but significantly less of overall country?

All else aside that's the attitude which has handed Trump those supporters. Democrats and Republicans, albeit in different ways, both love slagging off and ignoring a portion of the poorest Americans. Americans stuck in areas with high unemployment, high crime rates, high drug use, high levels of health problems, low wages, often minimal workers rights. But, you know, hyuk, hyuk they're hillbillies, right?

No. He very often gets people who've lost their jobs and homes due to globalisation and outsourcing . An issue he's well to the left of Hilary Clinton on . As well as a few others .

As another poster pointed out above its exactly that sort of dismissive snickering from political and media elites that's galvanised those people ...mostly the white working class..behind Trump in the first place .

Just remembered writing a little thing about the US Monarchists years back. They believe everywhere should have a monarchy, so restore Chinese Emperors, Russian Tsars etc. Lots of gossip about royals and potential revolutions, mad, pointless stuff. As I recall though their two lead chooses for the US were either restore the British Queen or Donald Trump for King. Possibly a Bush as third choice. They must be elated with all this, one step closer to the dream.

She would be way worse I reckon . Trump ..deservedly..got a lot of stick over that Obama birth certificate business . But it's conveniently forgotten that the whole thing was itself started by Clinton when she was running against Obama for the nomination . It was her and her campaign group full of the worst slime balls going that started the whole whispering campaign about it . Trump ran with her racist ball .
Same thing with the border wall . Her and John McCain were shouting for a border fence and telling people not to hire immigrant labour long before Trump ever mentioned a wall .

How many wars have that woman and her entourage been up to their necks in ? Jesus ...she's genocidal .

And as regards palm greasing, Trump has already pointed out that Bill and Hillary attended his wedding , pretty much because he paid them to . He was a big donor to their " foundation " . He's had them in his own pocket . They've danced to his tune for years , for money .

Personally I think Sanders , should he somehow unlikely succeed in getting the Democrat nomination, has a much better chance of beating Trump than Clinton. Not only is the woman heartily disliked among left and right alike , but Trump can damage her in numerous ways that he can't damage Sanders .

But the main way in which she's worse is she's the elite personified . If she wins nothing ...absolutely NOTHING ..changes for the better, that's 100% guaranteed . Trump is at least talking about changing the nature and structure of the US system . Or at least saying it needs changed . He's that unpredictable he might just change something for the better . Something better might come along AFTER him if he changes things, another Sanders type might stand a chance in the future . There's zero hope of that with Clinton . Just more born to rule, we are your betters clones operating the same bought and paid for racket . There's a real possibility Trump could be a spanner in the works .

Eta

He's definitely a fucking spanner .

That comes pretty close to describing the brown-shirts & that's why his rallies have the feel of 30s Germany. Don't be fooled by Trump's "populism." His followers are as you describe but also tend to be racist bible thumping gun nuts.

Where's the description ogf near brown-shirtery in that post? All i see are "people who've lost their jobs and homes due to globalisation and outsourcing" - is that enough now to make a brownshirt?

I don't understand why more isn't being made of Trump's hypocrisy about outsourcing. He's done deals with China, Bangladesh, and others, to produce the goods for his products. Hardly protecting American jobs and being hard on China, is he?

Hitler's followers were white racist christians facing unemployment. They saw Germany as humiliated & longed for a strong man to lead them out of the darkness. Here's Trump's populism....opposition to increasing the minimum wage.

And where did a description of these white racist christians appear in the post from CR?
