Donald Trump the road that might not lead to the White House - Redux 2024 thread.

I don’t understand why no one is properly pushing back more strongly on the abortion after birth bullshit.

Maybe the thinking is that if they do, it highlights it and MAGA will dig in deeper.
Harris got more kudos in the debate by just laughing and rolling her eyes at him. Explaining that he's talking bollocks perhaps doesn't cut through to the right people, i.e. floaters in swing states. Openly mocking him and his associates as completely doolally might do.

hey ladies - are you confused? trump is here to tell you what to think.

I've read a couple of reports on this, and most seem to think that Trump is wrong.

Four years ago, we had covid - no-one was happy.

It's still on a bit of a knife-edge, because anything could happen over the next few weeks, the average of the national polls are showing Harris ahead of Trump by 2.9%, but as we know it's those swing-states that matter, with Pennsylvania probably being the most important, the latest poll shows the lead for Harris is now up to a healthy 5% there. and also in Michigan too.

Harris gains among white college voters and young people

Meanwhile, her lead shrinks among the 30-44 age group. The Harris-Trump gender divide remains prevalent, and Trump maintains the strongest lead with white, non college educated voters.

Interesting read here, comparing how he was at a rally two years ago, compared to how deflated he came across yesterday.

Two years almost to the day, Trump returned to the Aero Center, this time as a candidate. However, Trump seemed much more diminished as he seeks to return to the White House.

To boot, Trump’s overtures seem much more desperate and are a sign that as he struggles to beat Kamala Harris, he does not stand on the same footing he once did.

Losing Biden as a contrast seems like it knocked the wind out of Trump’s sails. In 2022, and in truth, in most of Trump’s rallies since he left the White House, he mostly focused on Biden and would open his rallies with a supercut of Biden stumbling over his words and or seeming weak.

During both rallies, Trump focused heavily on his bread-and-butter issues - immigration at the US-Mexico border and crime - but today, he also offered numerous unrealistic policy proposals, such as capping credit card interest rates at 10 percent.

“Some people are paying 25, 30 percent, it’s crazy,” Trump said.

He also discussed removing taxes on tips and Social Security, which many in his own party do not support.

And, this made me smile...

On Saturday, Trump also gave a shout-out to his new buddy, Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk.

“We’re going to reach— and it’s my plan. I will talk to Elon, get those rocket ships going,” he said. “We want to reach Mars before the end of my term.”

If by 'we' he means Musk and himself, I think we would all get behind that.

On that note, projecting Biden's supposed senility, where the fuck are the media? They are and have been, complicit in enabling the orange fucker.

a very sensible blogger writes,

I expect, on top of everything else this week, Trump’s lawyers are going to claim an emergency to try to ban Jack Smith’s book report, currently due Thursday.

As you’ll recall, after Judge Tanya Chutkan finally got the Trump January 6 case back, she agreed with Jack Smith’s proposed path forward: They would submit a brief explaining how the superseding indictment complies with the Supreme Court’s immunity opinion. Chutkan set a deadline of September 26, Thursday for that brief.

Trump seems certain that if voters see that brief, he will lose the election.

Last Thursday, Trump’s lawyers submitted what was supposed to be a discovery filing, in which they basically said, “NOOOOOOO!!!!! No briefing before the election.”

He really seems to have lost what was left of his tiny orange marbles. The MAGA media must be (quietly) shitting bricks. There's only so many times they can do the 'BUT HARRIS!!' dance.

Trump has a 14% lead among men? There’s your modern day misogyny manifest right there.
I remain amazed that the gap is so small and that a shit load of women would actually vote for Trump (any woman for that matter)
If its Misogyny playing a part in men voting for the orange turd then what is it that makes a women vote for him ...FFS!!!
They must be complete fucking idiots

I’d suggest it’s perhaps time for you to do some research on internalised misogyny.

Tell us more about misogyny, Donald

Im shocked, she looks proper minging to me, I mean her face is alright on the rare occasions she actually smiles, but ffs she is overweight with a completely un-feminin figure
You lot are weird

Yet more evidence that Arizona is a shithole.
Tbh I'm rather disappointed looking at that poll, so many women that must be thick as shit or plain nasty

I agree, the very post you quote in haste to get a side swipe in actually accepts the numerical difference yet you avoid the point of the post which is that its surprising that such a number of women would vote for a misogynist

I'm hardly surprised at your post though

I think Hillary Clinton had a bigger lead in the polls at this point in 2016 and kept it right up until she lost the election - I hope polling has improved since then but not sure how that would happen in a time when phone scams have proliferated and people don't tend to answer calls from unknown numbers

Wow, Trump seems to be acknowledging he may actually lose, I don't recall him doing that in pervious elections.

Former President Donald Trump has said he does not expect to run for election again in 2028 if he is defeated in this November's US presidential poll.

In an interview with Sinclair Media Group, he was asked if he could foresee another run in the event that he loses to Democratic Vice-President Kamala Harris. "No, I don't. I think... that will be it," Trump said. "I don't see that at all."

But he added that "hopefully, we're going to be very successful".

But this is the second time in four days he has mentioned a chance of defeat.

During an event held by the Israeli-American Council on Thursday, he brought up losing, and suggested that any such loss would partly be the fault of Jewish voters.

"Do they know what the hell is happening if I don't win this election?" he said, according to various media reports. "And the Jewish people would have to do a lot with that if that happens because at 40% [support] that means 60% of the people are voting for the enemy."

His running mate could maybe beat him but it would be close

I'd suggest that you follow prunus ' advice. Or not. Your shout really. However, stupidity alone doesn't explain phenomena like a significant amount of woment being anti-choice for instance...

She also had that 'October Surprise' of James Comey announcing an FBI investigation into alleged corruption and wrongdoing charges which turobocharged Trump's 'crooked Hillary' schtick. Even though they subsequently stated she was clear of all charges prior to voting, it was too late and the damage had been done in critical batleground states. Trump rode that pony all the way to the finish line.
