Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

There's no way he's going to be convicted
I've not delved very deep into it, but it seems to me the jury are going to have to believe some implausible nonsense to let him off. The core of the case seems to be he has to have paid Cohen an unexplained $130,000 bonus without querying it and also never wondered why the $130,000 he was supposed to pay with regard to Daniels never got mentioned again.

That said, history tells us that juries presented with celebrities can return some surprising acquittals.

Falls in line, gosh who would have guessed?

Is she trying to outdo Trump, now?

It's hardly a surprise. She was Trump's ambassador to the UN.
Not for a particularly long term. Wondering if she jacked it in because the position had been downgraded?

Anyway, her campaign ire towards Trump seems to have mostly evaporated and now she'll vote for him and pull stunts like this one. Ugh.

Mistrial? I never met her!

HAPPY JULY 4TH TO ALL INCLUDING CROOKED SLEEPY JOE, ALL THE FAR LEFT THUGS, FASCISTS AND MARXISTS WHO WANT TO DESTROY TRUMP AND AMERICA AND ESPECIALLY TO DERANGED FAKE JUDGE JUAN MERCHAN WHO CLAIMED I MET A "MIS TRIAL" WHO I HAVE NEVER EVEN MET BUT WHEN I DID MEET HER I TOLD HER SHE WAS A LIAR WORKING FOR THE DEEP STATE AND FAKE RINOS! MAGA!

I think Trump will be convicted in the hush money case. Notice that NY state has repeatedly battered him already in civil cases - in the fraud, rape and defamation cases. Also the only state where he has faced a criminal trial. But he won't get jail for this and its small fry compared to his election suppression cases. Probably won't be much consequence for him. It would be funny if they made him do community service though or a course on how to fill forms in properly. Doubt SCOTUS will bother with this one, their energy is on getting him off the hook for trying to destroy democracy. cunts

There’s a chance they’ll return a guilty verdict, but even if they do the negative consequences for him will be fuck all, and it may even give him a lift in the polls.
I'm not sure. I think there may a constituency of his support that is willing to believe in corrupt prosecutors and a conspiracy to stop Trump in his tracks, but will feel differently if a guilty verdict is returned by a jury. I suppose we'll see, if it ever comes to it.

This one in NY has to be the best chance. The other trials are in places like florida and georgia where any 12 people picked at random must include about 7 or 8 maga types at least.

Still probably fail though :(

of course.

"A dozen years ago, John Mark Dougan, a former deputy sheriff in Palm Beach County, Fla., sent voters an email posing as a county commissioner, urging them to oppose the re-election of the county’s sheriff.
He later masqueraded online as a Russian tech worker with a pseudonym, BadVolf, to leak confidential information in violation of state law, fooling officials in Florida who thought they were dealing with a foreigner.
He also posed as a fictional New York City heiress he called Jessica, tricking an adviser to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office into divulging improper conduct by the department.
“And boy, did he ever spill ALL of the beans,” Mr. Dougan said in a written response to questions for this article, in which he confirmed his role in these episodes.

Those subterfuges in the United States, it turned out, were only a prelude to a more prominent and potentially more ominous campaign of deception he has been conducting from Russia."

good explainer for you hardcores

oh by the way ...

Trump and his allies were quick to start lying about his jury's instructions

Judge Juan Merchan spent over an hour laying out how the jury would deliberate. Trump made up something else entirely.

Assuming it's tactical and he's not being an absolute cunt (I know, right!), if he's deliberately provocative to the judge and ends up with a sentence that can be deemed to be harsh, he can make use of that in an appeal...?
