Donald Trump - MAGAtwat news and discussion

A podcast I listen to reminded its listeners that the SC is mostly "Republicans in Robes". This was always a chance, and a threat.

It is, I can only hope that the Dems get on with packing the court. Giving so much unreviewable power to 6 crazed fascists is sending the US to the brink.

Is there a full schedule of Trump’s trials and court cases handily written down somewhere?

For the four criminal indictments:

- Jury selection will begin for the porn star hush money case on Monday 25 March

- The classified documents in the toilet case has not been scheduled because its preceded over by a Trump appointed pro-Trump judge who keeps stalling it.

- The Georgia RICO case is currently being delayed over allegations that the Georgia DA was shagging the prosecuter she selected for the case.

- The Federal election interference case is on hold pending a ruling for a MAGA dominated Supreme Court on weather Trump could order Naval SEALs to assassinate his political rivals.

What a great functioning democracy eh?

I thought there was something important coming up around May. Might have changed by now.
Looking at the details, I think this is the Maralago documents prosecution.

I don't know how current or complete the below summary is (it says it was last updated 27th Feb, though):

Now here's a surprise.

In January, the Defense Department’s inspector general released a report detailing how the White House Medical Unit during the Trump administration distributed controlled substances with scant oversight and even sloppier record keeping. Investigators repeatedly noted that the unit had ordered thousands and thousands of doses of the stimulant modafinil, which has been used by military pilots for decades to stay alert during long missions.
The report didn’t say why so many of those pills had been given out. But for many who served in the Trump White House, the investigation highlighted an open secret. According to interviews with four former senior administration officials and others with knowledge of the matter, the stimulant was routinely given to staffers who needed an energy boost after a late night, or just a pick-me-up to handle another day at a uniquely stressful job. As one of the former officials tells Rolling Stone, the White House at that time was “awash in speed.”
Knowledgeable sources say that samples of the stimulant were passed around for those contributing lines to major Trump speeches, working late hours on foreign policy initiatives, responding to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe, coping with the deluge of media inquiries about that investigation, and so much more. (Trump’s campaign did not respond to an email seeking comment for this story.)

I've met a couple of speed freaks and they didn't know what the fuck they were doing, so this explains a lot.

senior officials would use Xanax and alcohol together to soothe themselves while enduring the sky-high levels of stress that come with working at the highest pressure environment job in America — with the added pleasure of serving the whims of the infamously volatile, intemperate Trump.

As one former senior administration official puts it: “You try working for him and not chasing pills with alcohol.”

They have my sympathy!

Someone actually writes the gibberish he comes out with.

Not surprising but depressing. Coupled with the Court's decision to help Trump beat the clock on his election fraud case, they have basically given him a pass on his attempts to destroy democracy. It's down to the voters now to ensure that the would-be dictator is kept out of office so he can be tried and flung in a dungeon to die.

Shouldn't the three judges put there by Trump, and indeed the one put there by Biden, recuse themselves from the process, due to a direct conflict of interest?

The decision was unanimous, so it would have been 5-0 if those judges had recused themselves. I think they probably made the right call, especially since Trump hasn't yet been found guilty on insurrection-related charges, if the Colorado precedent had been allowed to stand red states would have bent over backwards to kick Democrats off current and future ballots on spurious grounds

Agree with that. Going to be a real headache if he wins the election, and then they find him guilty:hmm:
