I'm from London but I've never had them and they don't appeal to me at all. However I do know somebody friend and ex colleague "Well 'Ard" who was quite keen on them and used to go on about some Tubby Isaacs fella.

White meat, a cross between fish and chicken, I have caught and eaten freshwater eels before, and they were lush, don't know if I would like them jellied though.

Are these eels that go to the Sargasso sea, by any chance?

I am from London and voted C as the nearest option but actually have never tried them. I'm not put off by the idea of the jelly as I quite like the jelly in pork pies (when not being veggie).

Tubby Isaac's stall seems to have gone from it's Aldgate pitch, but I think I saw it on the Suffolk coast last month....i forget where now....

Myself and "Well 'Ard" used to play darts in "The City Darts" pub on Commercial St just around the corner from Mr Isaac's stall.

NZ actually exports eels for jellied eels ( I'm not entirely sure whether they are jellied in NZ or Britain ) they are not actually endangered in NZ but the population is dropping. Long fin eels big bastards up to 1.75 metres long lifespan as well. Not much is known about their breeding habits but they fuck off somewhere in Pacific to give birth.

I tried some Jellied Eel once years ago back in Birmingham - my boss brought some in from somewhere as he liked them, I wasn't very keen myself!
I've never tried the jellied variety since living in London but I do like eel sushi - it's not cheap though.

Many moons ago i did a little thing about jellied eels, made a very short probably crap film about the demise of the jellied eel market in London, closed eel and pie shops etc. So I got to see them being chopped up in Billingsgate market, slithering energetically till the last. Also talked to a few old geezers who love them and one of them sticks in my mind, he was saying how they're a lot better than the McDonalds filth which young people eat these days and how he wouldn't touch that with a bargepole etc.
Only had one plate of them myself and couldn't finish it.
