Well what I mean is, who is that going to fool? Even an audiophile who is kidding himself that he can hear stuff that isn't there can't deny that an arbitrary speed or the measurement of time don't correlate to sound waves.

It's pretty obvious that if the sine wave is out of synch with the rpm, that there will be deleterious effects on the audio quality.

For example if there were 1.5 sine waves per revolution (say 49.5 sine waves per minute at 33rpm) then the lateral stylus movements caused by the pitch variation would generate additional noise as these movements would not be in synch with the inherent flaws in the platter and mechanism that manifest on each rotation.

you give too much credit. You only need to sell that one original disk at £33,333 to be laughing. Theres another one born every minute etc

Yeah, well I am sure you know that's bollocks, but it's also bollocks because it's not one cycle, it's a spiral.

I know, I could sell a special home vinyl press that converts to widdershins, better sound quality and well worth the price at £39,998. You'd need my special turntable too of course.

Would this turntable take standard needles, or do you have special needles to go with it that I could buy off you for approx 100 times the normal needle price?

$8995!

Extreme build quality
• Unlimited dynamics
• High resolution with decay and micro detail
• Creates a new standard in magic sound staging
• Made with high quality parts
• Special internal connection conception
• Constant and full energy supply for any A/V system on the worldwide market

 :D

lol, $8,995 for an 8-way power adaptor. I don't even understand what "unlimited dynamics" could mean in relation to a power supply tbh, or "high resolution with decay and micro detail". I'm assuming that they don't even have any possible meaning, and that the sellers are relying on the people who buy it also not knowing but assuming that the manufacturers must know what they are talking about.

Housing:
Extreme heavy weight (40 lbs.) housing made from Italian marble. The material grants full noise reduction and elimination of any vibrations.

you couldn't make it up

Th Phonosophie CD Flux spray on & wipe off liquid, a snip at £99.50, actually claims to give you more music :hmm:

CD-FLUX is a spray-on, wipe-off fluid which is designed to clean discs and enhance their quality

This PHONOSOPHIE development operates in a similar way to surface-coating.

The result is more music!

Your CDs sound more dynamic and can really turn you on with their breathtaking musical timing and high ernergy.

You will be astonished at how much more music is right there on your disc, just waiting for you.

One day when I'm bored I'm going to work out how much it would cost to wire up the average festival stage with audiophile gear instead of the (still rather expensive) gear we normally use.

I imagine it will be more than the GDP of a lot of countries :D

That reminds me of a guy in a below-pub level band here who wanted to spend pretty much all of the bands' money (supposed to go for a small backline for everyone) on a stack of Marshalls for himself. He did it behind everyone's back, got booted from the band, and to recover the money the others sold his precious US Fender Tele he left in the room :D

I'm actually up for making something and trying to knock it out to some of these dickheads.

I'd need some technical assistance though.

I'm thinking we could produce an "inline mains filter" to guarantee that only the best electricity reaches the components. It'll filter out all the bad electricity (as we all know, rubbish in=rubbish out) thus ensuring that only the highest quality power creates your sound.

We'll sell the filters for £199.99 which will be a promotional offer, giving a saving of £800 on the normal price.

I will finance the venture. Please PM me if you have the skills to design and manufacture such an item (it needs to be something that doesn't blow-up, catch fire, or electrocute people) .

I'm considering taking music files and converting them mechanically into a small groove which will be carved into a black plastic rotating disc. I will then sell these pointing out that the distortion inevitably introduced adds "warmth" and an "extra dimension" to the music. Finally I will sell expensive mechanical devices which will play these discs using a needle that has been elaborately balanced to "virtually eliminate distortion".

I expect my market to include people who claim not to be audiophiles.
