Well "communism" is an idea that has informed all sorts of political movements from the 19th century onwards, including the 1st International, the Paris Commune, both losing and winning factions in the Bolshevik Revolution, various competing sides in the Spanish Civil War, a variety of political parties that have participated in European governments, many trade unions, many national liberation and civil rights movements and much else besides.
"Communism" with a capital "C" is the term usually used to denote those parties which were linked to Moscow. Perhaps you're confusing the former with the latter?

Sympathies all over the place when it comes to ultra-left (for lack of a better word) tendencies. Or tendencies to the left of sino-soviet Marxism. I think the distinction between authoritarian and libertarian socialism is theoretically inadequate if we want to achieve a future emancipatory politics without succumbing to totalitarianism. Such categorisations are nebulous and obfuscate.
