Croydon - nightlife, accommodation, things to do and general chat

Saw this on some sort of QI podcast recently. It's on my Christmas list.
Might be just full of the usual stuff though.
I shall be on the lookout for that. The trouble is Croydon is between London and Brighton, but no where near half way. 10 miles to London, 50+ to Brighton šŸ¤”

I'm confused. What has Brighton got to do with this?

EDIT

Oh I see, you are referring to the book blurb two posts previous.

Having reached the age of 18, Hassan Sentamu can now legally be named as the person who has admitted killing 15 year-old schoolgirl Elianne Andam in the centre of Croydon as she made her way to school on on 27 September 2023:

Proceedings are now active in this case and nothing should be reported that could risk prejudicing those proceedings.

At the opening of the murder trial of Old Palace of John Whitgift Schoolgirl, Elianne Andam, at the Old Bailey today, CCTV footage revealed the moment that her killer, Croydon College
sports science student, Hassan Sentamu, ran towards her just moments before stabbing her to death.

Hassan Sentamu has admitted manslaughter but denied Elianneā€™s murder on the basis of ā€œloss of controlā€ because he has autism.

Hassan Sentamu had broken up with his girlfriend, a friend of Elianne Andam, ten days earlier, and they had agreed to meet on the morning of the stabbing to exchange possessions.

Hassan Sentamu attended the planned meeting wearing gloves and a face covering, and in possession of a kitchen knife, and eventually drove it 12cm into Elianne's neck, severing her carotid artery.

Jurors were told by the trial judge, Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb, that they would have to decide whether the defendantā€™s autism offered him a defence in law and whether it provided an explanation for his actions:

Everything we learned from the Elianne Andam murder trial so far from break-up fight to autism defence

The trial continues.

We had an urban drinks meet up there. Not long before it closed for good.
I meant The Ship in the centre of Croydon - the heavy metal, goth, punky one. They have a quiz night coming up.

I remember the SLD last night the Ship in SoNo, very fondly. We drank them dry, everything that could go wrong did go wrong, flooding and broken furniture but it was a fantastic night out.

Oh yeah!

what did it look like?
the grrrl said it looked much the same over 30 years ago when she last frequented it
I have not had a drink in there for about 10 years, but yeah it still looked the same.
I remember I went on a week night and it was tottaly empty.
Big long empty hallway space. Quite weird and uninviting. Like they are expecting everyone to stand big groups at tge bar rather than get comfortable.
