Are there any special techniques for trimming your own curly hair? If I cut it wet it curls in random directions and looks completely different after it dries out, if I cut it dry it's all uneven and split, and cutting away curls directly puts ugly visible layers on my head. I got it looking okay the couple of times I spent three hours trimming at a snail's pace, but my hair grows fast and I don't feel like spending that much time on it, I was hoping there was a trick to it that I'm missing.

For reference my hair basically looks like this guy's.
My hair’s like that. Is it fuck ‘curly’

My eldest has offered to do mine. Tempted - he is pretty hot at cloud pruning and has some very sharp blades. It has to go - I was desperate for a cut all winter but I was too cheap (and wore a hat for months) It's fucking awful now and almost anything would be an improvement.

i've got a double crown and a cow's lick so my barnet is hard to style - I think when it gets too much I will shave it all off completely. Kind of made a private pact to only cut my hair or shave when corona has gone, but am beginning to rethink this policy

Do you not check all round with a mirror? V important.
I am missing a second mirror to see the back so have resorted to taking photos over my shoulder to see the back. It is a bit of a hit and miss affair, as is my trimming, but at least I know where I missed :-) only the second time I have done it and this time was better than the last! Next time should be fine, that is what I am telling myself at least !!

I realised today that my debut shave a few weeks ago wasn't perfect, as I missed some bits. Most worryingly are those bits in areas which, if they grow much longer, could be classed as a "mullet".

My wife gave me a 'gulag 1937' haircut a couple of days ago. I was so trautimised I had to immediately go out to a 99cents store to buy the cheapest baseball cap I could find. At the age of 48, outside of my working life, I'm wearing a baseball cap for the first time in my life. Not exactly pleased.

You need to get a skate board to complete the look

I have done mine by gathering random clumps in elastic bands and sawing them off with the kitchen scissors. Turned out...shorter (best I can say). Have been in woods all weekend so filthy with grass seed and dust and stuff. Will wash and pose tomorrow

Piece in the guardian today about the underground haircut industry...

I've seen someone cutting hair in a garden I overlook who I recognised from the barbers down the road (he cut mine a while back and it was a very good cut actually. Right now it's a #2 all over for me mind.

I'm on number 1 now.... ... Head, beard.... and just for added entertainment...chest ...which was a damn sight more than what came of my head..... They grey is turning white...

The more you bald the shorter you should keep the remaining... methinks
