Carbon footprint

Books, not bombs
I had never heard about a calculator footprint before and there are a few about. On this, my usage came out at 9 tonnes which is around average for the UK which surprised me but it's well below average for my area which is 14 tonnes. .
More on carbon footprints here

8 tonnes. Area average is 12. I don't own a car, walk/cycle/bus everywhere and rarely fly.

hmmmm.

7,5 tonnes seems a bit high - although we {as a household} do waste a lot of food, much more than I think is acceptable - which is also fxxxxing expensive for a bunch of oldies on fixed incomes.

but I'm in a rural area with bugger all public transport [ie mile and a half plus 600ft difference away from bus / railway] and I don't travel abroad.

Also stuck with LPG central heating ... getting solar panels could be interesting as we are just inside a national park with a "difficult" planning department ... and we do use quite a lot of home-grown wood from tree pruning / pollarding for heating.

A lot of what you might think is recycled actually isn't ... glass, for example, which should be almost infinitely recyclable, often ends up as a "filler" ... also, have you tried getting aluminium cans recycled recently ?

Load of bollocks, :D it says mine is 10.3. Area avg is 10.2.

I reckon that's because I eat meat, do get takeaways and flew once last year but can't remember if I offset it, so said no.

Also not sure what temp my flat is, I just put the heating on when I'm cold, not leave it on to reach some specific temp.

Mine came out at 10.6 in an area where the average is 13.4 tonnes.

The most significant contribution to my carbon footprint came from my home but I don't think there was enough detail in the questions to make it accurate. For instance, just asking what temperature you heat your house without asking how long the heating is on for doesn't give an accurate result.

You do not need to input email stuff to get a result. I do care about my carbon footprint print and thought it would be lower than average as I have not flown for years, commute on foot, am virtually, no totally vegetarian and buy very few clothes. I think my score was so high because of heating, no DBL glazing, no insulation and also I can only get bog standard electricity.
