Burger Thread. Yes!

I spent the past hour making home made burgers and chips. Purely because I knew they'd be way nicer than the shite from supermacs. My dad wanted to stop off and get burgers there and I convinced him not to do that.
He just finished a home made quarter pounder with crispy fried onions, cheese slice, beef tomato slice, and a little crispy bacon with home made chips...sat back and said "that's the best burger I've ever had".
😁

I think it's another food I've spoilt for myself :(

There's a bar near where we go to the beach that has the most fantastic Angus burgers. They have cheese, bacon, and are about 8oz of good beef. I shouldn't eat them, they can't be good for my health, but they are incredibly delicious. They are expensive for here, 8,95€ but are worth every single cent. I'll get a pic next time I'm there.

Been away in on the Yorkshire coast line for a day. We thought it would be nice to have meal out in Whitby after a walk to Robin Hood's bay. Silly idea. The place was rammed, forget finding a table, never mind eat out help out. Driving out of town a bit despondent and spotted a generic chain pub type place. Would have been mighty hacked off to pay £12 for this, but was just about worth £6. Although tomatoes in a burger is wrong.

Tomato in burger = soggy bun

I like a bit of salsa or tomato relish on a burger mind :hmm:

Do not like these towering burgers either. Mostly I make my own these days and favour a large bap with a large thin patty.

Was just about eatable as it was, but I do tend to agree. When I see some of those epic ones on the net I wonder what the point is if you can't eat like a burger. What I struggle with though when making my own is finding suitably large, yet thin buns. Normally bigger buns you see in the supermarket are far to bready.

Can usually pick up decent enough soft baps from Greggs. Also my local shop gets a daily bakery delivery and (if am their early enough) often get baps on.

Supermarkets are pretty shit for buns imo. The fresh stuff is all crusty and most the pre-packed stuff is crap.

I buy large brioche buns. They're excellent for burgers.

I'm quite fond of onions in my burgers, fried until golden brown and drained of oil. Maybe some lettuce on the bottom. Never tomato.

I like using English muffins, because they don't disintegrate as I said before, and also they're not too bready. Nothing worse than meagre fillings but too much bread. And no brioche buns, thank you.

From the bottom it must be bread, then lettuce, then tomato etc. The lettuce forms a barrier between the tomato and bread thus stopping the bread from getting soggy.

Under no circumstances should you use brioche. That it is unacceptable.
