Burger Thread. Yes!

ruffneck23 - been thinking about this a bit more - and my memories of Wendys are from many many years ago - so, even if the modern day Wendy's is shit OR if you think it's shit - please PLEASE spare me my memories and lie

Of course, if it lives up to my memory of a super-fine burger then please feel free to wallow in my misery about not being able to get one in the UK any more

my quest for the ultimate burger is going to take me to new york next month, any recommendations ?

Pauls da burger joint, village.
I should be back there for a couple of days before the end of the year.

I have just come back from a trip to the US.
It was work and mainly in NJ but I got a free weekend in Manhattan out of it. The company I work for are awesome like that, if you are away for a weekend they will try to put you somewhere cool.
I had three burgers in the 2 weeks that I was there. Each time I was asked how I would like it cooked I had medium rare each time.

So before I went I tried to research the best burger in Manhattan and received tons of suggestions but this place looked a good bet: Paul's Da Burger Joint
I knew as soon as I went in that I wasn't going to be disappointed, real 50's diner style layout with a counter, tables and a waitress that called me sugar.
I ordered the Eastsider, which is their specialty, along with sweet potato fries.
The picture from my phone doesn't do it justice. It was fantastic, it tasted like high quality beef and was really juicy. The bacon, mushroom and onions were also really tasty.
The bun was just some crappy generic white bread and I didn't eat it. Sweet potato fries were crispy and perfect.
Will deffo go back here next time I am in NYC. Almost worth the 30 hour journey.

So MacDonalds have launched an 'Irish' burger, they are charmingly calling, the McMór (Mór means 'big' in Irish, and apparently featuring a potato bun and authentic Irish ingredients like Charleville cheddar and Ballymaloe relish). Should i try it? I only have a Macdonalds about once every two years, and am curious.

The new Irish McDonald’s burger looks a little different in real life – here’s our verdict

Of course you should.

To my shame I'm in France and had a McDonald's yesterday. In my defence I had a hangover. Couldn't order at the tills all on big touchscreens and it was then brought to your table.

I've eaten maccy ds in France too. When I was on a work trip and only given a pittance a day to feed myself at a conference in Cannes where a bottle of water costs like €20

Will report back .

Anyone having the occasional McDonalds shouldn't feel bad. If you are starving, a McDonald's quarter pounder with cheese, freshly cooked fries and a vanilla shake is a thing of beauty.

It was more that I'm in a land of good food that I feel guilty about it, but I've eaten a shed load of brie, but it doesn't quite have the ability to soak up booze.

I should probably have a burger in one of the bars here in Chamonix and report back for the sake of the thread. They put emmental on burgers here apparently. :hmm:

Was in France during summer myself, and had barbeques to soak up the hangovers...and a jump in a cold pool!

Well, I did it yesterday. Got my McMór freshly made and it wasnt bad at all. It helped that i had a savage hangover and was in desperate need of grease. It was my annual trip to McDonalds and worth it. Was hard to digest mind.

My daughter about to attack a Mexican burger at Tabla in Arrecife.

She hadn't eaten since breakfast and still could not defeat it (not for want of trying). I had the same, it was superb. Worth the trip to the city for any burger lovers going to Lanzarote in the future.

Probably worth the trip to Lanzarote tbf.

I've not had an epic pub style burger for a while as the places that favour epic amounts of meat is not the kinda place my girlfriend generally likes to eat. Anyway ended up in a slug and lettuce the other day and it being several hours past lunchtime I was quite peckish. Mozzarella was a nice addition, but the brioche but was slightly small for its 18oz of meat.
