Burger Thread. Yes!

I'm going to New York for the weekend and then off to New Jersey to work for a couple of weeks.
Looking for some serious burger intake while I am there. Any recommendations for good burgers?

This place has a great rep: http://www.paulsburgers.com/menu.html
I am planning on visiting on Saturday afternoon to try the Eastsider.

In NJ, this looks ok - http://www.taphousenj.com/ 24 craft beers on tap and a few decent looking burgers.

Yeah man, Paul's is awesome. Go there every time at least once when in NYC.
Paul's a cool guy as well.
Enjoy

The Santa Fe looks very promising. I was in NY for about 5 hours once, I scrambled out of the airport and went to Manhatten and had a steak. Wish I could have fitted a burger in as well but the portions are hoody over there and there was no chance. At the end of three weeks in Canada I was happily eating a large sized burger meal (which is equivalent to one of our Super Sizes which you can't even get any more) without issue. No wonder there's an obesity problem in the US.

Burger Brunch:

Delicious squid ink burger with fish and tomato jam (£12) at OPSO - W1. Utter ponce food and I'd smash it within a minute. Still, nice idea.

They look like burned macaroons....squid ink stuff is also generally rubbish....(the authentic squid in ink sauce from the Basque region where i have returned from was awful....however it was the ONLY thing I tasted there that wasn't incredible...)

Macarons not macaroons!

Since macarons came on the scene, people have been confused and have been calling them macaroons which are those coconut cairn things that all the best Greggs' bakeries stock. I have never actually eaten a macaron, as they look like they are made of playdo. But coconut macaroons are a delight and the staple of any British bakery.

I only found out about macarons by watching that bake off program on the tele, last year.

I am yet to try one, or see anywhere selling them.

That hen do I went to recently started with a champagne high tea (we started off very well behaved) and there were macarons. Lurid green ones with chocolate in between. Fucking disgusting. I like mint chocolate but eurgh. They may just have been poorly executed mind.

Good French ones wouldn't have chocolate in between, (it'd be dyed a green coloured cream with a thin film of 'jam' next to the meringues - the colour stays the same throughout)....and they are INCREDIBLY sweet but somehow it works....you should want more of em (I dont like sweet things that much but could eat three of them...) you can get (pretty authentic) macaroons in Whole Foods Kensington in London....there's a new macaroon shop in Dublin i'll be trying too...fucking expensive (though worth it). You have to pay top dolla for macaroons....otherwise dont bother.

Yeah it is! One needs to know the difference! Even Great British Bake Off get it wrong. It's really not that hard to pronounce French words properly

Spotted this when in Castleton. Bit much for me, but perfect spot for such a challenge...lots of hills nearby to work up a healthy appertite

I had this for lunch:

An 8oz Beef and Red Wine Burger. Topped with Sautéed Garlic Mushrooms and a Herby Goats Cheese. Served on a Toasted Brioche Bun, with Lettuce, Tomato, and Red Wine Caramelized Red Onion Jam. Accompanied by Rosemary Salted Fries, Mixed Leaf Garnish, and a Roast Garlic Aioli.
