British IS schoolgirl 'wants to return home'

This'll please the far right rioters...

I'm sure they'll be delighted when the boot in on the other foot, thanks to the door this has opened. - illegal immigrant in the UK joins a terrorist organisation but we're not allowed to deport them because their country refuses to take them back.

I've never understood this - she was underage, it seems to me to be a crime of coercion and trafficking of a child.
I'm firmly on the a little girl was exploited and trafficked side rather than ooh a massive danger to others side.
If it was any other situation, she'd have been treated in law as if she was a child and unable to consent to or organise any of this of her own volition when it happened.

She was born in the UK to Syrian parents so it doesn't automatically follow she's a British citizen. She might be, probably is I would imagine but what would be the point? The whole idea of stripping citizenship is to stop someone from having the right to come here and I can't imagine either her or her husband are going to come here anyway.

Think you meant to say doesn't automatically follow she's a Syrian citizen. British citizenship might be her only one. Agree though, even if she has dual citizenship, not sure what the point of removing her British one would be. She'll be nicked if turning up in the UK anyway.

Maybe they want to normalise removing citizenship by doing it to someone widely hated.

Or she may have renounced her British citizenship and just hold Syrian, which wouldn't be surprising for the wife of the Syrian President.

It's got to be squeaky bum time for Begum and all the other shit that's being held in Syrian camps at the moment though, not knowing if they'll be held, released or executed.

She still holds a British passport as well as a Syrian one. She held it all the way through the previous government, whilst she was in Syria heading up a death, rape and torture cult.

I expect she'll be released at some point. If Trump withdraws American forces as he's said he's going to do it will probably be sooner rather than later.

So does she have Syrian nationality as well or just the Brit one?

If it's just thge one, she can't be stripped.

Micki's right though. I doubt she's likely to want to come back here.

She has Syrian too, will probably get a Russian one an'all (Russia won't extradite a Russian citizen). She was sanctioned by the UK (the whole EU in fact) about 12 years ago and her UK assets frozen. So they could have removed her citizenship at any point since then with no issues at all.

I think she has leukaemia. Probably has enough cash to buy the best medical services in Russia but maybe the NHS have got something they haven't.

Even longer waiting lists maybe?

I just can't see any reasons that the Assad's would want to come here (not that we want them) other than Russia going anywhere else there is always at least a possibility that they might get extradited back to Syria or sent to the Hague.

It would have done when she was born.
