Boomtown 2013 8th-11th August

I really, really want to do some sort of Offline stage there next year. I've got loads of ideas for something a bit different but something that would fit in perfectly with the vibe....

I put in a venue application last year, but then my freind contacted them behind my back and really fucked it up for me.

If its your first application and they like your idea then they'll offer you about a 3m X 3m space..... its not huge. That is unless you know someone who knows someone and then they might offer you somewhere a bit larger. If not i think you'd be lucky to put bands on in that space. If you can imagine something like the post office by the main stage..... that type of thing.

The main thing that they are keen on in applications is themes, something that will work particularly well within the area of the town that you think you should be in...... We made the mistake of saying we wanted to play dnb etc, but our theme suited the uptown area which they like to keep as breaks, this is where it all fell apart as the person I wanted to do it with said he didnt want to play breaks and messaged them without keeping me in the loop, and out of nowhere I got an email saying that they wouldnt be able to help us out. I think realistically you just say youll play what they want you to play, and then there's always room for deviation because you can't control what other people are going to play, its more a case of ticking boxes.

Im looking to put an application in again next year, I've got ideas for theming, and was thinking that Im not going to include the person in question with any of it this year (it actually transpired he said he wasn't bothered that we didn't get the venue as he just wanted boomtown to be his break from helping run events etc..... which would have been nice to know in the first place).

Anyway maybe we should chat, I've got some good theme ideas, some keen set builders and access to more sound and light equipment than you can shake a shitty stick at.... I was going to ask if you wanted to do an offline takeover if I got the venue last year, but obviously never got that far.

i got an error message when I put in my card details and hit submit but got the confirmation email through, smae happened my mate

told me they were sold out, then they appeared again, then i cant get to trolley. are they sold out?

edit: then when i finally got to trolley it said empty

I think people who had them in their trolleys lose them and then they reappear but by the time you get through someone else has got htem.

makes me wonder what the tier 5 ones will end up costing though- tickets look like theyre gonna be ££££££££££££

a friend of mine said she recieved a confirmation email, but upon ringing the ticketsellers was told that payment didn't work. Heads up

edit: she also says that the money has been taken from her bank. very strange.

yeah, was just going to post about that. no money outta my account, but it normally takes a while to show up

I got a failed message at the very last stage of payment, but then got a confirmation email with my order number and so forth. Really hoping this isn't another glastonbury style balls up.

Peggo Miller guys i called ticketsellers and they told me that even though i had the confirmation email, my payment has failed so if that message has come up for you, give them a call to check 13 minutes ago · Like

She may or may not be the friend in question :hmm:

Anyway got a second and third opinion, and they both said if you have a confirmation then it's fine. Payment will appear to have gone through but will be sent back in 3 days - You have a ticket anyway and will have to pay again at a later date. So got one. I think :hmm:

Supposedly got a tier 1, had a ticket sellers confirmation and a Nochex confirmation, but no bank transaction.

I'll be fucked the fuck off if they email me to say I've got one and I haven't, I can't understand website overload but not processing transactions and not honouring them it's a whole different kettle of fish.

£55 for campers is a bit steep too considering the state of play for campervans this year.
