Well what a great weekend that was, I cant remember a festival apart from glasto where there has been so much entertainment laid on, so many different venues and stages. I saw a lot of good stuff and everything seemed well picked for the good time party vibe. As others have said the effort put into the creation of the different town districts was a sight to behold.
We arrived around midday on Friday which actually worked very well although we had quite a long walk to the gate there were no queues and the security checks were friendly and laid back. There was plenty of camping space available and it seems we had missed the worst of the tent thefts the previous night. It was however a bit strange to turn up at a festival to see signs around warning about bad batches of k and the death of a woman, then our new neighbours warned us about the thefts. Fortunately we didn't have any problems and had a great weekend.
Only a couple of gripes and that was a few more toilets are required and more and better signed water points should be available and marked on the maps. Biggest gripe for me was the booze situation; I can understand the reasoning behind limiting the amount of booze you are allowed to bring but the trade off has to be loads of well stacked and reasonably priced bars. In fact what we had for the bars was too few, often with long lines, a very poor range and really quite expensive. If you are limiting people in how many cans they bring in selling 4% Tuborg as the only lager at £4 a can is not on at all, Beatherder were doing 2 for £5 and it was much better beer. Personally we all flouted the booze rule and I'm very glad I did. The only exception was the cider bar in the main town square which did have some decent things on even if it was a bit chaotic.
All in all though a great festival with great music, generally a great vibe and fantastic weather.
