Boomtown 2013 8th-11th August

Is there an urban meet up?

I'll be up in the camper field, so can't camp with anyone unless you've got a van?

Tort maybe?

Yup I'll be in the CV field again. Will have the Tortlets + my daughter's b/f with me. I was there for gates opening last year but probably more like late morning Thursday this year by the time I've herded everybody up.

Ah cool, I've got a festival phone but no sim or charger so ill let you know a number if I manage to sort it out

translation "I hate you and dont want you anywhere near my car you north of the river oik" :D

If you think you'll both fit youre both more than welcome to join me Boycey :)

i'll do the requisite head scratching and looking at bags and tent tonight and will let you know, thank you! :)

Flounder's mob the Boot Hill Allstars are playing in the Oldtown Theatre at 10pm on Thursday. This is a good thing as there is at least some possibility that I'll remember to turn up what with it being the first night & stuff.

Had a really weird dream Derv and I were at boomtown early (like before they'd built anything) and it looked like we were in a volcano crater (which it does a bit). Then we walked back to where we'd pitched our tent and quickly discovered we'd put it up next to one of my mums friends... AARRGGHHHHHHH!!!

NOW I'm getting ready to pack and I have to pack REALLY light! I may be a bit grubby by the end of the w/e.

They're very helpful at telling me how to get there by bike, car share and bus from all over the UK on their website. Not quite so good at telling me how to get there from, erm, Winchester train station, on Thursday morning.
Someone give us a clue. Yes, yes taxis but what about shuttle buses etc?

Yours, Jittug - recovering from Camp Bestival somewhere in the New Forest

Oh, when do gates open? Being a ticket holder is dead confusing, I'm not used to having to work with getting in at the same time as everyone else :D

Yep there's a shuttle bus service from the train station to the festival site :)

Oh OK. Any idea when it starts? It'd be nice if this was mentioned on their website (which is confusing and shit imo)

I can't see any info about the shuttles on the site either :/ I'm pretty sure others have mentioned they are getting shuttles and that they have operated shuttles in the past... hmm

Gates are opening at 12 on Thurs btw...

OK, ta. So that'll be an hour or two earlier then assuming everything's signed off on time. Usually the way.

Probs get to Winchester early and get myself to site in the morning. Most of my gear should be there as I type anyway

Looking forward to a festival of no shifts at all after what feels like weeks on the road dealing with facilitating other people's holidays (and taking grief off the over-privileged middle classes and their sense of entitlement in the case of Camp B)

This is a festival that didn't have water last year?

Usually the way for other festivals......

Oh yeah...

Obviously I love the scene and especially when it comes from the free party/rave culture. But some of the stuff I've seen at Glade, Boomtown and Symmetry etc over the years is massively

So just to reiterate for those that fancy it the URBANBOOMMEET will be at 4pm Friday at the benches/seating bit near the Bad Apple Bar.

I will try and make it but need to find out when 25 Past The Skank are playing - think they did a Friday afternoon gig last time and I have to go reprezent for the East Midlands.

Fairly sure the campsites are open from 10am. First acts at 12.

e2a actually the FAQs on the website say 12. I'm sure I was in the campervan field well before that last year but there were very few tents around when I went for a wander after getting myself set up.

As a punter I'm trying very hard to forget how dangerous and shoddy it was last year!
Funny how that works. Camp B looks fantastic from a punter's eye view but there were times when behind the scenes you wondered what the fuck was going on

Yeah, much of the time you find sites opening an hour or more earlier than advertised, they just don't tell anyone!
