Dreadful live - saw them three times, normally at Festives or in support . The albums? pretty damn good. I sold my copy of United Colours on ebay for some horrifically large amount of money. "Bad Karma"? Spot on on the money dance/baggy punk crossover with fantastic samples and decent production, but about three years too late to capitalise on it. Far too political and unrepetant for EMI, who promptly shitcanned them. must dig out it again and give it a listen...

Phoenix Festival 1994 - which was mostly a bit crap as festivals go anyway. Even Killing Joke were rubbish there. Then Wolverhampton Civic supporting PWEI two nights in a row in 1994 - a bit limp. Never saw them headline.

they were class at the camden palais, back round '92 or thereabouts, good at the garage a year or two later and great when i saw them at the boston arms a couple of years ago.

you just saw a couple of duff gigs most likely

Quite possibly. I'd imagine they'd be completely different live in a dive than they would be outdoors in a heatwave, playing to a sandpit. If you've ever seen any of the Phoenix 94 footage, that pit just kicked up clouds of choking dust throughout every set. It really didn't help the vibe. The PWEI gigs were really cold - Wovlerhampton civic has a large glass skylight which really makes it a terrible venue in winter. that and about two thirds full each night didn't help either, most of whom were still in the bar at the time so blaggers played to a crowd of about 600 in a 2119 capacity venue. (Wolverhampton Civic it only went up to 3K in capacity once they added additional fire exits)

one of their member posts here or at least did til he was banned...
...
Im not sure you can call it being banned.
I liked him as a poster, but Blaggers were a terrible band. Not up my street at all. I played support to them a couple of times, but just never understood the popularity.
