yes i guess down that way the scene was that dodgy it woulda been risky speaking out and they coulda only done it like the Blaggers did, with their own security etc . The Business were never dodgy but like all London bands had the odd dodgy hanger on . As for todays bands yes i'm afraid most of the UK bands just sound like some old Daily mail reading grandad which is completely at odds with say, Germany where most of the bands are openly anti fascist

As far as i remember the business gig happened sometime around 93-94 when anti fascism was surely stronger in the punk/oi scene and the band themselves weren't even attacked. They'd have had loads of backup if they'd stood their ground...About recent stuff, what d'ye make of rebellion? Not trying to pick a row I'm genuinely interested.
I find the mix of bands a wee bit strange, definitely a few dodge ones from time to time, and quite a few dodgy people in the audience as well, although i'm getting that second hand, never been meself.
Some of the german skinheads i've met are very sussed individuals.

most German skinheads are sound. As for Blackpool yes there is always a sizable amount of dodge but probably only 5% of the audience and last year (and maybe this year) the dodge organised their own gig to seig heil at . It's wierd , anyone i have challenged on Facebook about being there always claims not to have seen any seig heiling . I managed to find some within minutes on You Tube and i wasn't even there!

Aye thats more or less what i've heard...getalongerism.

It's odd that The Business never spoke out about nazis etc as is alleged. I met the Mickey guy who sings for them at a gig in London a few years ago (think it was the Stig from Icons memorial). He was in the pub next door and kept going on about his band etc and not being a fan of The Business I had no idea who he was until I asked him. He was there with his daughter who was mixed race.

He also said he was best mates with Colin Jerwood from Conflict but I've heard some thoroughly dodgy horror stories about his politics.

Regarding Blackpool/Morecambe. I've been 3 times over the last 10 years and everytime I've come across dodgy right wing types although hardly gangs of marauding nazis. Only time it got hairy was when my mate and I walked into one of the rooms and the band and most of the room were going 'No Surrender etc etc cos we're Ingerlish', we promptly walked out again. When we left on the Monday it turned out that the band had been staying in our B&B all along, can't remember what they were called. Once saw a bloke get chinned by some kid (ie 16/17) after telling him about leaving Mein Kampf on his dashboard to scare some people where he worked, hilarious.

What was that all about? I remember the Blaggers being all over the weeklies, pretty much every week for a while. Then there was a story about a journo (NME?) getting slapped, a piece slagging them off then...nothing at all.
IMG_9469.pngSaw them live a couple of times, but went off em after that
