Words or Sounds?

I love to sing along, and sing songs to myself while out and about. So lyrics are very important. The odd stupid lyric in a good song is jarring. There are also bands that I find really frustrating because the tunes and hooks are good, but the lyrics are just word salad - eg New Pornographers, Echo and the Bunnymen.

Although it depends on the musician i think.
