Blackadder stars meet to discuss Series 5

They’ll massively overdo the catchphrases and characterisations if they bring it back. That’s what always happens with these things. Characters get turned into a pastiche of themselves.

I predict it'll be lame.

I predict it wont happen.

Blackadder star shoots down series 5 revival rumours

That article contains the following details of a failed attempt to do another one 20 years ago:

Meanwhile, a Blackadder revival was once very much on the cards 20 years ago, titled Redadder and set in the Russian Revolution.

Atkinson revealed that the concept never progressed beyond the treatment phase "for all sorts of complicated reasons".

But you still want to know what the team concocted, right?

The actor shared: "It was set in Russia in 1917 and Blackadder and Baldrick were working for the Tsar. They had blue stripes around their caps and then the Revolution happened, and Rik Mayall unsurprisingly was playing Rasputin.

"And after the Revolution they are in exactly the same office and they have red caps. And it was quite a good idea and it was filmic in scale."

I really do hope it’s as funny as the first 4 series, but pessimism has the better of me.

What say urbs?

Well if it's as funny as Blackadder's Travels Through Time, or whatever the fuck it was called, I won't be watching.

Plus, Curtis is a cunt these days (I can't remember why he's a cunt though, but it probably has summat to do with Brexit0.

Besides, it won't be the same without Rik. :(

There's also a pilot, which I can't find, unfortunately

The pilot just makes series one seem even more weird. Because a lot of what was great about every series apart from series 1, is right there in the pilot (eg Blackadder is not a fuckwit with a stupid voice). The pilot does have the wrong Baldrick though. And the plot and many of the lines are reused in an episode of the series proper.

I still have a soft spot for series 1, the Python-like influence, Brian Blessed, Peter Cooke and the big budget.
