But if - and this is probably a forlorn hope - even a fraction of the resources currently put into prohibition were put into treatment, preventative care (particularly mental health), and support, the problems that do arise from drug misuse could largely be addressed. After all, it's not as if nobody's experiencing problems with drug misuse under the current prohibitionist regime, is it?
It's not only money saved on enforcing what is basically unenforceable laws, but the tax that could be raised by legislation of cannabis, and certain other drugs, by taking them out of the black market.
