This fella:The tramp in literature and popular culture is usually an eccentric individualist. It's not a realistic depiction of homelessness, but nor is it (necessarily) a term of abuse.
Young people don't use the insult 'tramp' and wouldn't be familiar with it?It's not standard IME. Most young people wouldn't be familiar with it IMO. .
Not as far as I've heard. I only ever read it online. They just say 'homeless' generally, though they do tend add a definite article to further dehumanise them. I have also heard 'wasteman' but that has a wider application.Young people don't use the insult 'tramp' and wouldn't be familiar with it?

Yeah I've heard it that context more often, but usually from older peopleI think I heard some young tyke use it in the American sense of 'loose woman' some point vaguely recently...
Do you really think Tramp is an insult?Young people don't use the insult 'tramp' and wouldn't be familiar with it?

I have never heard that Rutita.
For me "tramp" is just a descriptive name.
Innit.Oh dear. I may have to change my mind.

When I went two months without shaving my then GF said I looked like a tramp! I didn't take it as an insult, rather that was how one looks when one does not shave.Maybe I am showing my age? Calling someone a tramp has always been an insult in my experience. I am familiar with the use of 'wasteman' also, as well as the American usage instead of slut/whore etc.
I just asked my colleagues...54 and 31, they both agree with me.
REAL PRICE SECTION!!!!

I thought it was an acceptable thing for just this site, cos of its origin. Wouldn't call it that off of this site cos I doubt most people would understand what it means and the specific context from what it arose.I think saying tramps buffet is the kind of thing some people do between housemates or whatever, private inappropriate jokes. Now reduced price searching has become big among the middle classes of urban, it's no longer really appropriate to joke about tramps buffet. Voila!

What's done is done and cannot be undone. While other people didn't like the term but didn't say anything, and others thought it was fine, I asked for it to be changed because obviously, if some people find it horrible then there's really no reason to hang on to it. And I chose the term "Reduced To Clear" because that's what the shops themselves call it - and "real price section", while it may be true, is confusing. THE END.

Just asked my nephew and he didn't know what I meant but suggested 'bum' instead. another young life blighted by creeping Americanisation!I've heard loads of young people say 'tramp' and it has never been in a positive light. You must associate with very polite young people.
