Best French Fillims

I am amazed no one has mentioned A Bout de Souffle or Bande a Part yet. They are classic French. Le Weekend is great too.

There was another one iirc about an anarchist railway worker getting caught up with bombs. Imogen Stubbs was in it. I loved that one.

Potiche.

Fucking brilliant.

Also

La Vie en Rose
My Afternoons with Margeuritte.
Obviously, A bout de Souffle.

Probably loads more. There are a lot of good French films that weren't smash hits because they still have a very strong film industry in France.

Amelie is awful.

I'm a big fan of French films, especially nouvelle vague. There's some here I'll be looking out for.

amelie is shit :p

blue is the warmest colour is fabulous :)

who can i-d me a b/w french film that was mostly about a pileup? :hmm: and was that the same one with the saucer of milk? :hmm::D

The early Bardot films are good. But they can be a bit patchy. Arguably Et Dieu Crea La Femme or Le Mepris are the best of her early work. (She is also credited with being the first fully nude woman to be filmed in the UK for the shower scene in Dr At Sea)
