bbc website down?

U75 has been playing up as well :hmm:
I made the mistake of writing a Wirefresh article about the outage and linking it to the thread here. Google made me the #2 result for "BBC site down" and whammo - 4,200+ hits in about 10 minutes before Wirefresh wobbled, swiftly followed by urban75.

That's got to do your page stats some good though!

Well it would have done them a bit more good if Wirefresh hadn't blown a ruddy gasket when the traffic started flowing in! With all those hits my earnings on AdSense could have risen to - well - as much as a fiver.

ah, I see. Don't do it again please. BBC and U75 going down at the same time isn't good. :D

That's disappointing. For a moment there I thought u75 was as big a target for the techo-miscreants as the beeb!

Latest totally unconfirmed rumour: It was Anonymous wot done it.

I found a blog post: http://another-green-world.blogspot.com/2011/03/bbc-site-hacked-after-26th-march.html

It suggests anonymous pulled the bbc in retaliation to their coverage of the protests. The source seems to be a UK Uncut activist.

Did some looking around and haven't found anything to suggest an attack, but there is an Operation Britain about to launch by the looks of it.

http://search.mibbit.com/networks/AnonOps/#OpBritain

There is some mention of UK Uncut in the suggested targets, with relation to the EDL, who do seem to be spamming their facebook page repeatedly.

I don't think attacking the BBC would be the greatest idea. After all, there's a lot more worthy targets out there if DoS attacks are your thang.

Wasn't there a switch that the government could flick to turn off BBC Radio many years ago? Pitty they cannot do that with murdoch's media empire.

If BBC is off for 24 hours don't the submarines assume it's nuclear war and will retaliate against Moscow/DC. Tries to find masking tape for windows.

Well, I'm sure Murdoch has a switch to change the government if it annoys him or tries to make him pay taxes :D
