I made the mistake of writing a Wirefresh article about the outage and linking it to the thread here. Google made me the #2 result for "BBC site down" and whammo - 4,200+ hits in about 10 minutes before Wirefresh wobbled, swiftly followed by urban75.U75 has been playing up as well
It's buggered my plans to watch something I downloaded earlier from the iPlayer, because it can't confirm 'media rights'.

Well it would have done them a bit more good if Wirefresh hadn't blown a ruddy gasket when the traffic started flowing in! With all those hits my earnings on AdSense could have risen to - well - as much as a fiver.That's got to do your page stats some good though!

Latest totally unconfirmed rumour: It was Anonymous wot done it.
Wasn't there a switch that the government could flick to turn off BBC Radio many years ago? Pitty they cannot do that with murdoch's media empire.
That link has already been posted although I can't see any mention of the BBC in the original facebook page.
