Banksy painting ‘self destructs’ at end of auction

How was it "abandoned"?
in the really fucking obvious way.

Being a Banksy makes it even more clear, ironically, as he always gives away the ownership of his public pieces.

Those who took it would be wise to make an Art Prank video though, just to cover themselves.

It’s a stop sign. Street furniture is not “abandoned”.

The council is entitled to be miffed. With the thieves, and also with Gunningham.

Is it? I thought it was an artwork resembling a stop sign. The article doesn't make it clear. If it was just his planes on an original sign, then yeah, that would appear to be theft. Criminal damage at the very least.

The Grauniad has footage of the ne'er do wells making off with the sign. You can see it’s a real one.

This is a famous piece of art “disquieting duckling” by Asger Jorn. He found the painting underneath in a flea market and painted the duck on top. Like some lame 1950s photoshop. Oh and he was quite influential apparently.
Recently, another artist, decided to go and visit the duck and put her own art over the top, basically her scrawled name. the anger that arose, was because Danish bourgeois society was unable to have that discussion with itself. Oh and the fact that no one asked for it. And they were quite alright with the duck, thank you very much. And it was just basic attention seeking.

Such a public spirited man to quickly remove unsightly vandalism so quickly. Bravo. This county needs more such as him, filling in potholes and remove graffiti tags etc.
