Australian Labor PM on Tory misogyny - Julia Gillard

Impressive. You can tell by his face he's thinking, "she's got me good here and there's fuck all I can do."

Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard's attack on the "misogyny" of the leader of the opposition has gone viral. Kathy Lette, bestselling Australian author, outlines why the video has attracted hundreds of thousands of views.
I like at 1: 47 where Kathy Lette points out Cameron's misogynistic attitudes too...

She's in an arse of a hole though, with the speakers actions. Her government's looking shaky. It's a cracking rip through of the history of sexism and misogyny aimed at her, but it feels like she's wheeled it out only under extreme pressure. As if playing the feminism/misogyny/sexism card is a last resort because she felt that it would allow her to be characterised as a bra burning feminazi by what, I understand (which may be wrong), is a society with a lot more ouvert sexism and misogyny.

Still, as oratory - it's gorgeous.

He looked so self-assured and smug to begin with...it was great watching his façade crumble. By the end his face was a picture. His whole posture was that of a defeated man.....and that was long before the whole thing went viral and he realised that Australian women are not actually a marginal group who'd rather do ironing than bother their heads about what he might say about women.

Her delivery was spot on here and she indeed achieved taking him down a peg or two, calling him on his own misogyny and his double standards.

I don't know much about this lady though and can't help thinking that I have read some very negative stuff about her at some point. Not for being a woman, more to do with her policies.

Anyone know more about her? Can you provide a summary of what you know?

She's running a minority government, making unpopular and often contrary decisions. Embattled would describe her accurately.

Brilliant
They've stopped shooting "Abo's" for fun, congrats
Hear some daft daft Ozzy dumb bag on the radio as I type blaming the UK for in some way causing this !
Fuck off sunshine. your daft culture is your fucking own
Stop whining you shit holes
Oz, your disgrace is your own
Accept it

Can't decide whether to read this as a poem or the rantings of a madman.

She is very pro US/Blairite welfare reform, i think she has robustly promoted the electronic benefits card for ''indigenous Australians''

I just thought it was one politician ranting on at another and stopped watching after a few minutes. She's not a patch on Skinner or Benn or Hague

Julie Gillard, You go girl-

Not a Gillard fan, she's a bit too "Tony Blair in female form" for me. Good piece of oratory, though, although her political views mean that things will only get better if sexual equality can be made a profit from.
