This murder is not a random incident. Neither is it isolated

This murder is not a random incident. Neither is it isolated

On Saturday night, December 6 2008, a murderer took out his gun & executed in cold blood a citizen, Alexandros. What is even more tragic in this murder is that the murderer, a policeman by profession, killed a 16 years old kid.

The incident happened in Exarchia square, at the intersection of Tzavella & Messologiou streets. A location where any one of us could be at. A location which could part of any neighborhood. The eyewitnesses of the incident report that the murder was predated by a plain word exchange. But the Proud Greek Murderer could not swallow the insult & he took out his gun. & he executed. In cold blood.

This murder is not a random incident. Neither is it isolated. It is yet another link in the endless series of murderous attacks carried out by the various police stations/departments.

Let us not forget the murder of the pakistani immigrant in Petrou Ralli street, while he was waiting in the queue to aply for asylum (in a queue where the state itself had directed him to stand).

Let us not forget that a woman was murdered recently in Leukimmi, as a result of the Riot Squad's actions, during a march against the installation of a dumpster in their neighborhood. Unfortunately, the list has no end.

Let us not forget the tortures perpetrated by policemen in police stations & prisons. Let us not forget the intentionally murderous attitude of the law enforcers, with countless chemicals, fire bombs, shots, beatings, in every instance where people take to the streets, during strikes, student [demonstrations], local issues (it's not long ago that the police choked the entire region around the High Voltage Station in Argyroupoli using teargas & beat up our neighbors).

This is their role. Let us not have any illusions: to beat up & to murder so as to transmit the message "we & our bosses are the law, every one resisting will be beaten up mercilessly & there's still more."

And who are their bosses? Could they be the owners of bank branches? Could they be the owners of chain stores? Could it be the president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce & Industry? Could they be all those pressing for more work from our side with less money & inferior security?

Could they be all those getting rich through the the interest rates, while thousands of people deteriorate to despair? Could they be all those using profiteering, both against us & against the producers, through the prices they impose on supermarkets for bare necessities?

Could they be the ones who reap super profits in good times while, in bad times, resort to layoffs & paycuts?

Then, yes, it only makes sense that the public outrage is also directed towards them. It makes sense & it is appropriate that police stations, banks, & chain stores are being attacked. They talk about material damages while a new death has been added [to the list].

If personal property is the only thing of interest to them, then the revolters are justified. We have to understand that, when horror does not awaken consciousness, the smell of burning is necessary.

Is it possible that we take no stance amidst all these incidents & the uprising in progress? Can we ever be with the ones who always request "order & calmness?"

Who always, even during the [german] occupation [in WW2] or the military regime [1967-1974], they only wanted to "mind their own business & live their own inconsequential life?"

Who see "provocation" & "familiar strangers" perpetually & omnipresently? Who always interpret society with a terminology of conspiracy, used to leadership playacting in their inapproachable offices?

Let us not be swayed that the incidents concern, each & every time, "those on strike," the "university students," the "youngsters."

It's the people who's on the streets these [last few] days, without "central management," "instructors" & "the enlightened avant-guard." The media to be used are deciced freely by every revolter. They concern us, as they [also] concern the residents of Exarchia square who took a stance in what was presented as "hide-&-seek vendetta between policemen & anarchists."

During the weekend, they were throwing claypots from their balconies & were demanding that the Riot Squad teams are removed & that chemical spraying stops. They took a stance, they didn't pretend to be Pontius Pilate. They took a stance against state repression.

Hence, all of us also need to take a stance. We have to put forth, up, & against our resistance to the imposition of a state of fear & "in cast" [unforgettable statement of the prime conspirator of the aforementioned greek junta, in which he informed greek citizens that he intents to "put greece in the cast"], of a police state.

So what have we so far?

The death of a boy known to have been having a go at the coppers in an area where the cops are often attacked by left wing thugs using stones and lethel petrol bombs.

The fair kangaroo court of a bunch of far left fools and their pals deciding murder without the help of a real trial, evidence of whatever.

Turns out the turd was killed by a ricocheting bullet from a warning shot but that was dismissed by the lefty lot. The truth would ruin their fun.

You see violence is the best way to fight against the system or for them to become the rulers as they fully realise that there is fuck all chance of anyone with a brain ever voting for their revolution.

I have noticed the almost total lack of anyone mentioning the massive looting that is going on in the area. I wonder how many of the people's army are just common crooks out to pinch a few things from the shops they smash up.
That or the communists are just out to get greater wealth by theft. Does that fit with left wing ideas as long as you only steal from the hard working?

I can fully see how someone would be pissed of at the greek government. Seems they are corrupt and couldn't run a piss up in a brewery burning public buildings and banks is just extremist cunts out for a mixture of fun and / or an attempt at taking over a country for their own ends.

The way to unseat a government is with the vote not the petrol bomb like these fucking idiots.

I love how derf makes all these grand claims about his own neutrality (as opposed to our insidious political agenda) while unquestioningly reproducing the claims of the cop's defence lawyer. No agenda here :D

Has the court delivered that verdict yet or are you just happy to call them murderers without the right of a trial?

So much for free and fair.

fuck the murdering cunts.

this is a fucking revolution,ain't it :D

I hope it spreads world wide.

Maybe the time has arrived where people just dont trust any political party and feel that a vote will not change very much?

So start your own party and get ready for elections. If the people really want you they will vote for you and you don't have to burn anything.

This lot are just a bunch of cunts. I can't bellieve they are ranting on about dictatorship and then trying to force revolution so they can force their way into power. Total wankers.

wow, just seen those pictures of the polceman on fire. Hole shit!! It's amazing how he only escaped with minor injuries.

So derf has hit rock bottom to justify fascists.

calling a murdered teenager a "turd".

surplus cunt.

Can you point out a post where I have ever justified a fascist in the true meaning of the word and not just an insult to toss at the police.
If you can I'll never post here again. If you can't go fuck off you stupid little turd.
A fascist is a right wing politacal extremist often with twisted opinions about race not just an insult handy for idiot lefties to use about the people who's job it is to protect the public from cretins with petrol bombs.

First there is only the word of a few dodgy fuckers with their own aganda to say it was murder with no evidence to back up their lies and there is evidence to show they were fibbing.

Second he was a turd to run around the street balls out and attack cops with guns knowing they would be in fear of their own safety after so many attacks in the area.

Still truth and reason are fuck all to this bunch of comrades and their sick supporters.

Derf, I don't agree with violence against people, and to a lesser extent porperty - not because i care about stuff being burnt but because it's really not doing anyone any favours. However your attitude is to be honest, shit.

You've condoned a young lad being shot and called him a cunt. Now fortunately your opinion means as much as anyone elses on this board, diddly squat - but you should perhaps take a look at your own attitude, for your own sake.

Regards.

There is absolutely no evidence at this time to say that the kid was killed by a richochet, that report has not been released, or are you privy to documents that aren't in general circulation now.

There is a lot more evidence and witnesses that say the coppers are lying.

with video evidence and eye witness accounts.

You are really a despicable cunt.

Sorry I missed the part where you said you were sorry for telling the world I was a supporter of fascism.

At least someone agrees that the damage is bloody silly. That's a start.

I condoned the police defending themselves against attack. His age is nothing to do with it.
I did suggest he was many things and I believe I was right in what I said.
The fact that he is dead may make my words a little sour but if someone was doing as he was in the middle of London I suspect that if you were walking by you would have thought about the same.

I may also be true that opinions on a board count for nothing in the real world but attitudes do. The silly posters here that seem to believe that this sort of thing is acceptable behaviour is staggering.

Calling themselves comrade and having a pop at fascism. What they are missing is that it's them who are displaying the traits normally expected of the far right.
No elections, condoning violence against the enemy and using the dehumanising word "fascist" to make it all seem right.
Hitler would have been proud of them.

Perhaps my attitude is shit in some ways but there are a good number on here well ahead of me on that score.

This is just reports from Athens

http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Quakes/us2008anai.php
Even the earth under our feet is protesting...)

-Traffic was stopped in one lane of Amalias Ave, in front of the monument of the Unknown Soldier, because of a sit down demo from schoolchildren of Sholi Moraiti (the school Alexis was attending, until a year ago),wearing white t-shirts and holding white roses (13.20 pm)

-An assembly of anarchists has been planned for 15.00 pm at Syndagma(12.15)

- A group of young people stopped traffic at Papanikoli st and Doukisis Plakentias ave towards Attiki Odo( a major highway around the suburbs of Athens). The demonstrators were shouting "Cops, Pigs, murderers" and were distributing leaflets of radical left groups (12.10 )

That;s the state of the far left and why no one ever votes for them.
Bunch of soft twats.

Hang on a minute. He was 15 and you are talking about a school he attended until a year ago. What about his education since then?
Kicked out was he? I wonder why.

Of course earthquake only happen to support the far left in their class struggle.

And people say I need to examine my attitude.

Some information about people joining the Greek police

There have been a couple of links about this, on this topic on previous posts, they are accurate and i will not repeat them.

The police force, special guards etc are formed in the majority by people belonging to far right groups like Chrisi Avgi and others and they come from families with long history in the far right political scene in Greece, even as far as Tagmatasfalistes who collaborated with the fascist Germans during the occupation of Greece (WWII)

This has been known in Greece for a long time and the last few years even more people with these kind of affiliations have joined the police force and have shown if they are fascist or not at union workers demos at anti-globalisation demos, at demos for the environment, at anti-war demos and always at demos from radical left groups. The murder of Alexis is not the first of this kind in Greece, only a month ago a Pakistani man was killed.
The purpose of the police of any civilized country is to provide safety for all the people, how do they provide safety for eg when after having arrested a person they go on to brutally beat him/her up?
If someone is a thug and/or a fascist shows in their actions.

Sorry I missed the part where you said you were sorry for telling the world I was a supporter of fascism.

You are taking the fascist police line ( the police are remnants of the fascist state, this is well known, greeks don't trust them ) as accepted whereas the reality is that far right groups are now openly working with the police to intimidate everyone else.

That is why it is kicking off all over Greece, more and more people are getting involved.

Alexis was not kicked out from his school, he moved to a different school the last year for his and his family's own reasons which I do not presume to know, maybe for better education or because of proximity to where he lived, I don't know, but he was definitely not kicked out from his last school, the school's statement to the press proves that.

This is not a reply to a previous post, just info for anyone else who's reading the topic

I love how derf makes all these grand claims about his own neutrality (as opposed to our insidious political agenda) while unquestioningly reproducing the claims of the cop's defence lawyer. No agenda here :D

I love it when he starts crying when people pick him up on being a fascist.. which he totally is!

This is a link for any Greeks reading this topic with info about police brutality, it is a video (in greek) from Zougla.gr of a previous (19 Nov 1995)
show on tv

The show was recorded two days after the clashes of young people with the riot squads in front of the Polytechnic that took place during memorial day for Polytechnio and during which hundreds of arrests were made and a 13-year-old was brutally beaten and tortured by MAT(riot squad)

During the show you'll see the 13-year-old at Evangelismos hospital.(at about 1.25 of the video, have it playing on a different window, the video doesn't have a move forward option)
The thug that beat the boy is Ioannis Skopas, commander-in-chief of the police station of Patision today, then the man of MAT(riot squad). He is the same man who a couple of days ago was throwing stones against schoolchildren from the entrance of the police station of Patision, while they were protesting after Alexis death.

Hello xes, and thanks for the support by responding to vulgar posts I have decided to ignore.
It's good to know that there are loads of people who disagree with disgusting posts like those referring to a dead boy in that way
Respect!

100 residents and shopkeepers from Mesologgiou str requested in writing from the municipality of Athens that the street where Alexis was shot dead to be renamed to Andreas-Alexis Grigoropoulos

As they mention in their written request, this renaming of the street will be a rightful demonstration of respect and honour towards the unfortunate 15-year-old who lost his life on the 6th of December.

Thanks AKAPseudonym, I ignore as best I can, sometimes it is too offensive.
Anyway, just came back on this forum after watching the news(from yesterday and this afternoon) and I just have to post this comment : our clown of a prime minister didn't have the guts to answer questions in his own country, he had to do it from Brussels...

The prime minister has so far survived the calls for his resignation, flying to Brussels European Union summit as protests rocked the country.....
His office said that he will go to Cyprus on Monday for the funeral of ex-president Tassos Papadopoulos, who died Friday

In the 300-seat Greek parliament, many other lawmakers are directly related to past ministers and lawmakers, with parents sometimes handing down electoral districts to their children as hereditary fiefs of a sort, Paikos notes.

"Parliamentary seats are effectively bequeathed to children, nephews and nieces: around one-third of the current members of parliament fall under this rule," he said.
