Firstly, he's a footballer. That's his job. Has he done his job. Balance of opinion seems to be yes, by and large he has, including at the world cup. So the next question is he a good person, and before answering that my view is that everyone subject their own lives to the level of scrutiny they will apply to his.

On the whole I think he's a bit of a flash twat, but one who does his job moderately well, and who isn't doing anything that particularly screws me up. So that makes him several shades of excellent beyond almost anyone in politics or the media. Though still a flash twat.

Unless they are punditing/doing adverts/presenting stuff(kinda their job) you never hear about em in the papers. They might be a very famous celeb couple but they do not deserve comparing to thee general media whoring of the beckhams or the cashleys.

You clearly didn't see Botham play. He was by some margin the worst player I have ever seen appearing for a professional football team. Easily the slowest as well. Best bit of business Scunny ever did. Season was over and he put 10,000 on the gate when he played, and that with no transfer fee and no wages.

Just got this - may be real, may be bullshit, but an interesting twist anyway.

Courts have held a further 2 week gagging order on Steven Gerrard’s private life. It turns out that it wasn’t a 16 year old girl he got pregnant, but his wife’s sister! Will hit the papers in a fortnight. The judge has prolonged the gagging order to protect the FA whilst they decide on Fabio Capello’s future.
John Terry and the rest of the England team know about it and JT had a big falling out with Capello as Gerrard kept the captain’s armband despite his adulterous behaviour. This accounted for the tension in the camp with half the squad including Terry labelling Gerrard a disgrace and can explain Terry’s actions in the pre-Slovenia game press conference. It has got to such a point where they can’t
stand each other
