Art thread 2020

I've been so busy with moving house that I've barely made any art...but over the next few days I plan to return to this which I began in the midst of it all and I feel expresses some of the feelings - waves of overwhelm and my attempts to box up my life. View attachment 221362

I love this - I've loved looking through the whole thread actually, making art stuff feels like a lifeline at the moment.

This one has taken me a while. Firstly I really wanted to hone my realism skills which it has, though I think I need to work on hair more. Secondly I've just started an Instagram account so it's a bit of a shameless attempt to garner likes and followers.... I noticed how people will put their art up and the subject is so often young beautiful women. So I drew a man (in drag).

What's your insta?

You have an amazing talent. These portraits look like b&w photos they’re so realistic.

I would say from looking at other artists on instagram I'm mediocre when it comes to looking realistic! But I don't mind that much. It's a skill but it takes a lot of time and my motivation for it is not always there, sometimes I would rather be creative than realistic, so I'd to find a style somewhere in the middle, that would be a real skill.

I wanted to try a pen and wash effect, suffice to say this did not turn out like that at all and I basically used the watercolours like acrylics.

Will try again on a landscape, I want to let go a bit of being realistic and develop some sort of style.
