Art thread 2020

I haven't used acrylics since I was 16 (and then only once I think) or painted a beach scene ever. But wife wants 3 canvases to go in our pink blush colour themed room, and I find myself with time on my hands. So I'm doing 3 of photos we took in Guernsey & Herm. First one done.

Wow I love those smmudge, you have real skill and a lovely style.

I've been drawing to amuse myself during lockdown but nothing I'm particularly proud of :D but I don't think art has to be 'good' to be worthy of existing and if it's enjoyable to me that's enough. Actually one of my pics relates to this 20200518_201845.jpg

A cd case for a lockdown mix I'm sending to my dad. 20200518_201858.jpg20200518_201920.jpg

And one I've been working on the last few days...work in progress. I had this daft idea about writing a children's book related to lockdown.

Awesome, esp the houses

Was hoping to get some bits for wood carving but looks like I'll have to order online.. Did get some bits to get painting though. This piece stalled a long time ago I I decided to get back on it with oils. It's been a long time since I used oils but hoping to build this up and get it more refined. First few blocks or colour and washes seem OK?

Anyone that can give advice for oils please do.

Ordered some wood chisels for wood block carving that came today, along with ink and a roller. Chisels need properly sharpening though so need a sharpening stone and don't know much about what I need. Seems I also need a strop to keep them sharp while I use them?

Still, they look nice!

I decided to send back the blunt chisels and get some that will be sharp and I just have to keep sharp. First attempt today at a quick test carving. Fucked up and started carving the wrong bit to start with. Doh! But carried on. Few other mistakes and can see there is lots to learn but fairly pleased with Print 1 and 2
