Are You "Anyone But England"?

lol @ "the enemy within". Wow, the English really do get proper butthurt if you don't support their beloved team. I'll be far from miserable if Croatia, Russia, France or Belgium beat England, and if they don't, that's no big deal either, I'll just shrug my shoulders and go binge watch the 5th series of Silicon Valley. I suspect if England do lose there'll be a lot of fans crying in their beers.
Remember...it's only a fkin game.

Seems other do as well to a few words :D
why do you say English as if its everybody, its just me
Desperate Housewives is better imho, just on the last series now No 8.
Off for a Pimms ocock

I don't (wouldn't normally) care if England win or lose... but on this occasion I really want them to win, just to see ddddddraig's head explode!
Oh, I always want them to lose, and for my entire life have been rewarded by them doing exactly that. I'm terrified that they're about to upset 'the order of things' and that nothing will be quite the same again. I'm also fearful that any such outcome will diminish the ongoing efforts of the ABE fraternity for at least a decade or more, as England fans will be able to quite legitimately point to their recent world cup win as a riposte to, well, everything. Tis the end times, goddammit :(

Much as I genuinely want England to succeed since Spain are out, I must say I'm chuffed I'm going on holiday next Wednesday and will be in an area with pretty much no English people for the s/f and the final. I'm getting pretty tired of hearing people singing 'it's coming home', or being sent endless by-now-fucking lame videos on whatsapp with that song superimposed on movie clips.

Having said that I've seen nothing but good spirited behaviour from the fans throughout this WC. At the pub I was this evening there were a number of Swedes who'd clearly watched the match there and surrounded by England fans. So fair do's.

As someone with no interest in football, I am strangely starting to get sucked in, not sure if that's because England is doing so well, or because of the impending explosion of ddrage. :hmm:

WATCH: "It so f**king isn't" - Noel Gallagher reacts on-stage to crowd singing 'Football's Coming Home' | JOE.ie

Apparently, Noel doesn't fancy England's chances.
On Friday night, Noel Gallagher took to the stage in Scarborough’s Open Air Theatre with the rest of his High Flying Birds, as they approach the end of their Stranded On The Earth tour.
They're still on the promotional campaign for the band's 2017 album Who Built The Moon?, and just hours before England are set to take on Sweden in a quarter-final game in the World Cup, he was greeted by the crowd bursting into a rendition of 'Football's Coming Home'."
"It's f**kin not" shouts Noel

Video is pretty funny.

said i'm off, so you can both have your little pathetic circle jerk and carry on
hur hur he has a different diet let's have a go, state of you
I'll be smiling, dancing and getting pissed with engerlish mates who've made a lot of decent food whilst your sat here having digs at people even though you won the game
sad really, enjoy dickherds

But are you bovvered?

It's one thing saying ABE when it's say Rugby because it's possible to support Scotland, or Ireland or France or Italy rather than Wales, mostly to tease the English. Like ribbing a mate.

But to support any random country from around the world because they are not England is a step too far.

Though watching the ludicrous grief of England supporters if they lose will be both funny and pathetic. It's just not that important. Though I hope they don't, IYSWIM.

In fact if they win I might become temporarily English, to annoy the Spanish, who think I am anyway.

Do you think England fans are particularly given to pathetic displays of emotion then? Have been you been enjoying the reactions of all the other fans as their teams get knocked out? Because they're exactly the same. Some people go over the top. It's not a uniquely English thing though.

No. No.

I live in Spain. Some Spanish people were distraught. I laughed at the more absurd displays, though not to their face.

I really only see UK and Spanish media, though I'm sure there are some Swedes getting risibly upset over where a ball went.

yeah amazing you're such a cunting cry baby even though you won, properly pathetic
This is very much at the "yeah, and your mum smells" level of argument. I do hope you don't realise what a hole you dig for yourself every time you rush angrily into yet another ill-advised spat, because the self-knowledge would be awful...

It's not that you have a "different diet", but that you never, ever, ever, ever stop going on about it. The "how do you know someone's a vegan" joke could have been written about you.

Methinks the dragon doth protest too much...

Indeed. The wailing and caterwauling of Brazil fans at the 2014 semi-final springs to mind. Also, tearful footage of Swedish fans yesterday. But the facts don't trouble the ABE brigade too much, as they cling brexit-like to their cherished spite.

Wait...what? A step too far? wtf. Surely it's the ultimate tease. How is a step too far?
Sure the English don't like it, that's why they have a special thread full of a bunch of them whingeing about ABE's, but they can dish it out plenty and quite often do. Lots of gloating when they win, and the most ungracious and miserable whiney losers when they don't, whilst believing their own hype wrt being fair, balanced and objective, lol. As far as I'm concerned it's not a step too far at all.

Sure it's not something that's unique to England, other countries probably do the same although I haven't experienced it. I was in Spain when they won the world cup, and that was fun and a big party. (I was rooting for the Dutch at the time...until the "kung fu" kick.)

Where have you seen England fans gloating when they win? You must be very old to remember the mood in 1966.

As for fans with a sense of entitlement really you need look no further than Brazil for whom anything short of winning the whole thing is a disaster. If England don't win the whole thing I think you may be surprised by the positive reception the team gets on arrival home.

Basically you're mostly wrong. You've mostly just invented a myth to rail against.

A big part of the problem is that - again - you're generalising. On Urban in this WC I've seen barely any gloating, just loads of people getting excited at how well and how far the team are going. So it's boring to see certain posters on windups or being just plain fucking wrong by behaving as though these England supporters are one and the same as all the dickheads breaking stuff and invading furniture shops out there in Meat Space.

Weirdo alert
Let it go,wonder what has happened to you to make you like this.
And with a name like that i dont think you are English.
So you hate the England football team, we get it
Is this a obsession with you, something happened in your life to make you like this .
Nobody really cares what you think
I always want Scotland and Brazil to lose but dont keep on and on and on about it.
You come across has one of the many remoaners on here.
Be careful someone might be along soon to call you a Gammon or Racist.
Always a good one to close debate and give someone a winning feeling :D

looooool @ "cherished spite". Talk about being over dramatic. Calm down dear, it's nothing more than a piss take, except the English cannot take it even from the tiny minority of ABE's who happen to enjoy England losing...probably in the same way that a lot of English enjoyed the Germans getting knocked out.

Exactly. This team's been better than most of us thought it would be. Their spirit and togetherness has been superb, a real antidote to the more depressing aspects of the modern game. It's been a brilliant competition and England doing well has only added to that. I would hope that a fair few neutrals have really warmed to England and how they play, as for instance, I have towards Belgium and many other teams.
