Arab Woman gives Muslims a Thrashing

''Do not the unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together (as one unit of Creation) before We Clove them asunder?
We made from water every living thing.
Will they not then believe?''

(translation of) Qur'an 21:30

Yeah very convincing.... not.

Q: Why didn't Allah put some chemical formulas in the Koran?

A: Because it was written by Muhammed, who knew nothing about chemistry.

Fuck I just read the saudi women thread as well ...

i know a couple of muslim women that would kick your arse fattboy.

I know a few too. perhaps we should introduce them to him.
Mind you, he's probably just looking for a housewifely type who'll do as she's told and not mind being beaten by a toothbrush every now and again

Actually, Mai Ghoussoub was an Arab woman who spoke for womens' rights issues for decades, but I don't think she ever, in her lifetime, received the type of widespread, mainstream exposure that Sultan has been granted by the US media.

Have you heard of Mai Ghoussoub, frogwoman?

Yeah but what makes you think God didn't start off the process that your'e talking about? What makes you so sure that he or she didn't have anything to do with it?

I never said the big bang didn't happen, and i think evolution is still continuing so there isn't any reason why that couldn't be continuing either? I just don't see how that could have started on its own, what was before the big bang? Nobody knows, it couldn't have just been nothing could it? And I'm not saying it is random but I just don't see how a whole universe could have started forming on its own and spontaneously coming into existence with nothing to "make" it do that iyswim

Your exact words were:

because i dont see (in my opinion of course) how the earth etc could have come about randomly,

and my point is that a grasp of stellar mechanics would show you that the processes of star and planet formation aren't random. What is random is the environment in which they happen - gases, dust etc floating round the universe (usually the product of a previously dead star)...

And in answer to your 'What came before the BB'...well what made God? Religions are just as incapable of of answering this as science, indeed more so, since science at least offers the POV that we live in an entropic universe in which time exists, and arguably what existed pre-BB was 'out of time', and that the BB was a hugely improbably quantim event...

My own POV on it is that what came before is intrinsically unknowable to humans - at best we could speculate on it, but actually knowing it would be impossible. But the idea of a great guiding consciousness behind the formation of the universe? Nah.
