Never been clear on why a mass protest needs one person to have his or her voice amplified over everyone else's. It gives the loudest voice to whoever thinks they should have the loudest voice, which is a terrible system.

In this country you always get a handful of tosspots from (insert name of insignificant trotskyist faction here) turning up to protests and thinking that they're in charge because they've brought a megaphone/PA system/brass band/red army choir.

I once saw a bloke at an anti-EDL demo on his microphone telling people, and these were his exact words, 'please don't confront the EDL, please gather around the stage and listen to the speakers'.

Evidently despite the PA system he was unable to hear what he was saying, or he'd have surely understood the absurdity of it.

This is a seemingly small group of people closing down discussion and debate in aggressive manner because they disagree, in what was supposed to be a meeting of like minded people in a safe space. Its pretty bad, and simply walking away so they get what they want would seem to be very counterproductive.

They aren't repeating the speakers words, they are repeating the same chorus as a response to the few words that somebody else shouts. And it appears to be in a classroom, they don't need need a protest permit.
