Alternative Euro 2004: U75 Team Needed

Set the 25th as a definite, that way we all have time and/or no excuses.

I'm actually having my toenail off in the next cpl of days, but it'll be alright by next w/end.

I'll try and get down Sunday if I can, even to meet up with a few of ye etc.. probably wont be able to play but it'd be good to hook up anyway.

mmmmmm a decent kiwi footballer, i'm a tad confused there.....do they actually play it there....? :D

No need to be confused. I was playing with other kiwis so that's doesn't mean I'm a decent footballer by English standards. ;)

I can't make any Sundays as that's when I have to organise my wedding (orders) but I can supply Black and White tops if necessary and am very up for a game on the day itself - though I obviously don't know how I'd be selected if you've not seen me play!

Current Oceania champions need I remind you...

Rovers used to have a Kiwi playing for us 15 years ago - Paul Nixon, a tricky winger. And as I said, I do have an NZ top so I can pretend to be Kiwi if you like, eh? :D

Might be up for this Sunday. LD Rudeboy - what a name! lol. We should have country bass in your face sponsors on the front of our pink t-shirts. Should work out some line dancing goal celebrations too. :D

I once had a week of FA footie training for being a naughty boy! They gave me £200 also and some basketball training to boot! Prince Charles sorted it all out - top work Charlie - got to meet him too.

Sadly, I have had many drugs and drink since this training and have forgotten most of what I was taught. Ah well.

I could give, ahem, a scouting report...

I tell you what... two (that's two ) comedy misses today vs top of the league woking...

One was identical to the one you saw, except this time I shaved the post having made a great connection.

The other was a million times worse.... great play from centre forward... occupies the keeper then plays it back to centre midfielder who strikes it at pace with an open goal gaping...

It hits the man on the line - anywhere else would be fine...

That was bad!!

Kind of made up for it with a 30 yard volley for a point though ;)

I'm up for training on the 25th, defo, but I'm also up for it this sunday too. The more we play together in advance, the better. So, same time (3pm Sunday) same place (Brockwell Park by the lido) and we'll get our u75 skillz on the go. Please text/ring me on the day to make sure it's definitely happening - 07941019319. I'll bring a few mates along and you're welcome to as well.

I am going to have to take a rain check today, we are having our house rewired now and I need to do a bit work today in preparation for when the sparks turn up.

I have also just remembered I will be out of the country on the 25th so cannot do that Sunday either.

However, I am still very keen to play; it is just a bit busy for me over the next couple of Sundays.

I'm f****d for the next 3/4 weeks at least. I've had a problem with my toe, thought it was just the nail needed removing but there's damage inside it too. I'll be able to train but wont be able for full contact :( today I'm recouping and on crutches so wont make it down (Dr mrs1798's orders). sorry guys.

bad luck tony. if you can get around at all, come on down anyhow, and help me with my mangaerial notes :)

And this is where Rollem comes in (no, you haven't been sacked yet, we need you!). As boss, I reckon Rollem should take a critical view of our abilities in training and pick the best team and tactics for the actual games. It's easier to give advice as well, when you can watch the game from the sidelines.
the only place i come in then eh? nothing to do with getting all your arses into gear and entering this damn thing in teh first place then eh? ;) trust me, my notepad is at the ready (and no relahni, no favouritism i am afraid....)

right then

first 'training' session - sunday 25 april: brockwell park, 2pm
peronsally i think southwark park is better to play football in but will use brockwell first off as i think more people are likely to turn up! in order to cater for those of you who may not know what any other urbanites look like, i suggest we meet in the hobgoblin pub (pm me if you need directions) at 2pm. please note: this is not a pre-training drink, this is a meeting place only ;)

all urbanites welcome. better too many of us than not enough. this is for the good name of urban so we want as much of our homegrown talent to choose from as possible :D

on a side note, i have been speaking with the the organisers (one of whom's big bro played for the mighty QPR in the 80's - this gets better and better :D ) and they have suggested they'd be happy to have a 'pre-tounament friendly' against us next month sometime, so bring your diaries with ya next week, and we can sort some dates when we are free. this will take place in southwark park (better facilites to play football in in my opinin - i.e. its flatter!!)

urbanites team = team of urbanites

a few people have pm'd me asking if they can bring mates along for the team - to make up numbers.

whilst i have nothing against having few 'reserves' should people pull out along the way and we need to make up the numbers, this is fundamentally an urban 75 team, and kind of defeats the object if half the team aint urbanites. so the first 7 - or even ideally, the full squad - will be urbanites

no offence to your mates like

:)

Maybe if we're too bad, then we can consider ringers but 'it's not about winning it's about taking part' .

Do we have a motto or fans chant??

let's get busy with a song.

Rollem, as manager - May I suggest you allocate each of us a team mate to make a song up about.....

After all this frankly worrying talk of formations and tactics (a concept alien to someone who has spent the last four years watching some of the worst football ever served up to north Bristol audiences) it's good to see tony returning to the really important issues.

Are trainers OK for Sunday? Can't see myself lugging boots and shinpads up from the wild, wild West when there's Chislehurst caves and PRoD to attend.

ha ha ha. That cracked me up.

Goal celebrations for LD Rudeboy should be made (if he scores).

I want a predictable baby celebration if God Willing I score (or more likely kick the ball out of the park).

Songs! That's a good one.

BTW - who is in our squad?

And I'm suffering a little with the diego marradonna's at the minute - and Jan Molbys. Will avoid pork pies for a couple of days if it helps.

Sunday is a complete and total no for me: even without the small matter of it being very possible that The Mighty Arse will win the league at White Flag Lane (again), I'm going to Cambridge and back on Saturday to score a cricket match.

see you at the next training session then wowbagger :)

"relahni,
ooo-ooooh
relahni,
ooo-ooooh
he thinks he's fucking great
he's just a fucking state...."

:p :p

trainers are fine jtg, just looking to get you all to turn up!!

who's in our squad?...hmmm, good question indeed. to my memory i see it as following:

relahni
brixton hatter
chrisfilter
ld rudeboy
ringolevio (?)
tony1798
jtg
g force
wowbagger
marty21
sleaterkinney
raverdrew (?? tbc)
thomas77 (?? tbc)
tricky skills (?? tbc)
flimsier (on the bench coz he thinks he's too good to train ;) )

that should cover us...even of only half actually stick to their word and turn up!

i can't make it to training at training at the mo, north london would be a lot easier for moi, see me as an aging francis jeffers, having to train on my own :D

and with a squad this big, i can be a squad player, being brought on when rollem wants to do a bit of tinkering, when she feels the need for a very slow player on the wing :D

Aw I'm envious..I'd love to get involved with this but alas..c'est la vie.
Now any of you who can make this and then don't........

YOU'RE A BLOODY DISGRACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SHAPE UP OR SHIP OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<kicks boot at Ringo's bonce> :D

Failed drug test

What, he wasn't taking any?

Disgraceful behaviour, no way can this man be allowed anywhere near a U75 team!

What's the weather looking like for Sunday?

If I cycle to work every day will that help?

No, seriously, I'm happy filling whatever role you want. I'd be up for training, but I've promised my weekends (post-football season) to sorting out jobs for my wedding...!!!

Oh, and even if we *weren't* possibly maybe perhaps please God about to clinch the League at White Flag Lane and even if I wasn't going to Cambridge and back, I've just been given a semi-final line for Sunday morning.

This weekend is going to be fun.
