Alternative Euro 2004: U75 Team Needed

I'll be there for Sunday in the park.

I think maybe a 2-3-1 formation would work better - otherwise we're just a left/right team with nothing in the middle. In fact, do we know how big the pitches are going to be? That could be a key factor in deciding....

i reckon 2 - 3 - 1 would be the best bet n' all.. with the central midfielder dropping back rather than forward, and slightly freer roles for the two on either side of the midfield.. that way we're solid defensively, with option of playing a passing game if we can, or a slightly more direct style of play if needs be.. relahni as lone striker?

If your looking for a bone-crunching midfield dynamo of the Robbie Savage mode, then I'm more than willing to invest in a bottle of peroxide and drop down on the sundays for a kickabout !!! :p

Cool!

Wowbagger

Brixton Hatter G Force

Robbie Savage aka Raver Drew

Chris Filter Tony 1798

Relahni

A match for anyone that lot.

Grief, they're all on about positions and tactics now!

Any use for somebody who can point and shout?

I have just been advised on a most excellent formation and associated tactics - which we can try out in the park on Sunday, but which I won't post here in case the opposition is watching! NICE :)

OK. It would seem that my busy social diary will be taking me to That There London on the weekends of April 24th/25th, May 15th/16th and one of either May 1st/2nd or May 8th/9th.

If anyone is keen on a kick around (aka 'training') on those Sundays then I should be free, albeit recovering from nasty hangovers. On the 15th I shall actually be in action for Bristol Rovers  at Leyton Orientear's CHAOS Cup tourney in Walthamstow. Possibly against Cardiff City's 1927 club (we never get drawn in the same group as them but it'll happen eventually - and blood will be shed! ;) )

Anyway, yeah, keep me in mind.

I might be a bit late for this but once you see me play I may get a spot on the bench!! (Just to tie the laces on my boots like)

That's my goalkeeping style in a nutshell. Order everyone else about and then blame them when they fuck things up.

sounds like you dont need a manager....

have i already been sacked then? is that a new record? :( ;)

more info for the day:
It's all a bit DIY, but always a great laugh and always played in good spirit

Each match is reffed by volunteers from each team. We usually kick off 10.30ish, and finish by 5 or 6. We'll make sure it's over in plenty of time for peeps to get home to watch the England match!

All you gotta do is turn up on the day. We do ask for a donation of 10 quid per team to help cover cost of winners Cup and programme printing.

all seems ship shape to me

so, the important bit now... when is everyone free to get together for a first attempt at a 'training session'? relahni is not about this sunday, but how is everyone fixed for next sunday? 25 april. and where would all prefer? i know BeatcH and relahni etc normally have a kick about in brockwell, but there are a decent amount of football pitches in southwark park which may make better play? anyway, who's free on 24th, and which is better, brockwell or southwark park?

>wonders off to talk to a man about pink t-shirts....<

24th is London Walk and PRoD (unless I'm terminally confused) so fingers crossed I'll be in London that weekend. Need to sort crash space for the Saturday night mind.

Yeah ditto. Might need to arrange a specific place to meet seeing as i've not met any of you yet.

Ringo and I will be there. Just give us the time and place.

I'd also like to play on the left either midfield or on the wing. However, I can play anywhere apart from goal.

Did I mention I used to attend a centre of excellence in NZ and won MVP three years running? ;)

We played in World Cup 82 and if we didn't have Brazil in our group we would have gone all the way so watch yourself. :p

you'll have to get past my experienced defensive wall first :D

nice, pseudo leicester shirts.. i played for the leicester city school of excellence as a kid, and now I'm shit.. make of that what you will ;) 25th in Brockwell would be best by me, easy to get from euston...

anyone up for a kickbaout this sunday regardless?

*makes note to wear NZ All Whites shirt to avoid any naughty tackles from the Rudie*

Picking up this thread quite late...

If there's still room, I'd like to play. Only problem is that I have just been advised to have SIX weeks of not football cos of a torn cartilage :(

Gets me out of training anyway...

I think we need as many people as possible to turn up - we're gonna need 10 people at least. 7 in the team and at least 3 subs. You're all welcome!

And this is where Rollem comes in (no, you haven't been sacked yet, we need you!). As boss, I reckon Rollem should take a critical view of our abilities in training and pick the best team and tactics for the actual games. It's easier to give advice as well, when you can watch the game from the sidelines.

I'm up for training on the 25th, defo, but I'm also up for it this sunday too. The more we play together in advance, the better. So, same time (3pm Sunday) same place (Brockwell Park by the lido) and we'll get our u75 skillz on the go. Please PM me on the day to make sure it's definitely happening . I'll bring a few mates along and you're welcome to as well.

Would probably have trouble making any training sessions in the South: might be able to get to one or two, but no more than that.

Still, if you need a goalkeeper for training, you could always use a traffic cone and put a silly hat on top of it. It'd probably perform better than me.

Meant to say, do you need a kit provided. I can provide - its Newcastle colours though (and may have to be the old version of our kit, but its fine!)

I think we need tops for sure - but "the Gaffer" is looking into pink t shirts...

25th is good for me, can't really make any other time.
