All the sports!! What y'watching?

Definitely the climbing - I've bought a Eurosport pass for it specially.

Speed - very athletic and pure power. Same route every time
Boulder - more strength required, problem solving ability. Routes (problems) vary each time
Lead - endurance based, problem solving ability also needed. Routes vary each time.

Scoring: Combined format - rank = points so lowest overall score wins.

(starts tomorrow 9am)

If anyone wants a link to all the events btw rather than relying on what the BBC thinks you might be interested in, PM me.

Watching the climbing just now. It’s unbelievable! I used to do a bit when I was younger but this is just astounding.

The Canoe Sprint doubles look like torture. 3km in a straight line doing the Last of the Mohicans.

Only thing I'm interested in. I once used the same locker at the bouldering wall that Adam Ondra used, straight after him. That is my brush with climbing celebrity.

They have separated speed for the next Olympics - sensible decision, I think.

I worked with a climber once. It was an office job, so he'd often do pull-ups on door frames, with one finger on each hand. And he'd shin up brick walls in his suit and his office shoes. Once I drove off a bridge (don't ask) with him in the passenger seat, and his fingers left surprisingly deep dents in the plastic door capping.

Open water swimming anyone? Anyone actually enjoying this? I really need to get a life.

It's actually making me look forward to the walking later this week which is at least comical.

I think all the shit I truely care about has finished (kinda sad, but Paris is only three years away, and obv the various world championships will be back from now on), but will watch the velodrome shenanigans and 10m diving as and when on iPlayer, instead of filling my Sky box up with everything possible.

Men's weightlifting, the heaviest category. The Syrian guy looks a good a good shout for a medal. Central Asian countries always seem to do well at this. Iran, Turkmenistan etc.

Now he's going for a world record in the clean and jerk -265kg!

All his lifts have been heavier than anyone else has tried, the best lift by anyone else in this contest is 241kg

There's a 46yo Danish bloke currently going in the mens (boys) skateboarding. Pretty funny. Everyone else looks like they should be smoking tea leaves in the park while giving horns of the devil signs to the camera. And then there's this old geezer. Respect.

Google tells me Tony Hawk's net worth is $140m. I doubt Usain Bolt is worth $140m. Fucking hell, that 13 year old girl who got the bronze has supposedly made £4m in sponsorships. These pushy parents shoving their kids into gymnastics and ice-skating are missing a trick.

The walking has begun!!

I've actually turned off my film for this. It's priceless. 80 men are currently waddling through the street of Tokyo with deadly serious looks on their faces.

How do you work out what's on when? I'd quite like to see some of the football but BBC is utter shite for telling you what's on what programme. One promised football and there was only boxing, elsewhere I can't see it at all. It took me all my time to find the rugby 7s when that was on.

Watching all six hours of the 50Km walk replay. Annoyed at both the Eurosport commentators for pronouncing the leader's name wrong. It's Chinese "Luo" and they keep pronouncing it Loo-ow, when it should be more like Law.

Imagine for example if the gymnastics commentators pronounced Biles as Billy-ess.
