A mother and her two children who were in their car when it exploded and burst into flames were saved by a couple out on their first date.

Emma Whitfield, 24, was driving along Caerphilly mountain last Saturday evening on her way home to Penmaenmawr after visiting her parents in Cardiff when she heard a loud bang.

She said: “The car in front of me slowed down and when I changed gear my car made a massive bang and I could see smoke coming from the bonnet.

“All I could do was move the car to the side of the road. But as I was undoing my seat belt a man came running towards the car screaming at me to get out.”

The Garth, and Craig Yr Allt are both fab too. I love the latter, less well known but really rewarding. Excellent whinberry picking too.

Did a bit of bird with a fella from this neck of the woods. Geraint was his name. Quiet lad but raved about the place when he did speak.

Local vexations at the mo .....600 proposed houses running from the old tar works from the SE of the station..with an ajoining bye pass due to run up to mountain road then cutting straight across the flanks of Caerphilly mountain...just below mountain café... along the boundary of the golf course into Watford park....

Looks like the proposals a goer

Like mountain road isn't already a bitch in inclement weather.....yeah...let's increase the traffic flow....top darts !

i can happily report that kid2's frostbite bruised (black! :() toenails have finally grown out after last summer's hike-in-too-small-wellies got a bit out of hand (we were rationing water the second half of the walk) :D minus mum points

I got frostbite once - was on my way back from Egypt and had to change planes in Prague with a 9 hour wait - in January - decided to go on a city tour, didn't realise it was a fucking walking tour, thought we'd be in a heated mini-bus. I'd come from Luxor where it was 30 Celsius during the day and I was wearing canvas shoes and thin trousers, it was fucking -22C in Prague. I lost some skin off my legs and feet, but I lived.
