A PROTEST HAS BEEN ARRANGED IN BIRMINGHAM CITY CENTRE ON JULY 4TH AT 15:00pm.

MEETING POINT AT THE BULL RING (By the bull).

THIS IS A PROTEST AGAINST ISLAMIC/MUSLIM EXTREMISTS.

ONE OF THE GROUPS RECENT STREET PREACH WAS IN BIRMINGHAM (06/06/2009). A MUSLIM MAN (WHO NOT SURPRISINGLY IS ON A MICROPHONE AND WHO ALSO HAPPENS TO BE "ANJEM CHOUDARY" - THE NOTORIOUS MUSLIM CLERIC WHO PRAISED THE SUICIDE BOMMERS OF 9/11 AND 7/7 WAS GETTING A VERY YOUNG WHITE ENGLISH BOY TO REPEAT HIS WORDS AND RENOUNCE CHRISTIANITY AND CONVERT HIM TO ISLAM.

WE THINK THIS IS DISGUSTING!

THAT BOY IS ONLY 11 AND CLEARLY HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE IS SAYING OR DOING! THIS IS JUST ONE MORE OF MANY EXAMPLES OF EXTREMESTS USING ANY MEANS SO THAT THEY CAN PUSH THEIR IDIOLOGY ONTO OTHERS - WITHOUT FORCE.

WE ARE BECOMING ALIENATED INFRONT OF OUR VERY OWN EYES ON OUR STREETS! WE NEED TO STAND UP AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND GET OUR VOICES HEARD. THIS IS HORRIFIC AND INHUMAIN!

RACISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED ON THIS GROUP AND WILL NOT REPRESENT THE POINT WE ARE TRYING TO GET ACROSS. BEING RACIST DEFEATES THE WHOLE SITUATION WE ARE TRYING TO DEAL WITH AND IT ALSO DESTROYS ALOT OF HARD WORK THAT PEOPLE HAVE DONE TO GET THIS FAR!

WE HOPE TO SEE AS MANY OF YOU AT THE PROTESTS AS POSSIBLE.

THANK-YOU FOR YOUR CO-OPERATION.

TOGETHER WE WILL ACCOMPLISH GREAT THINGS.

Well done to everyone who turned up for the London march/protest it wasnt a massive turnout but you have done everyone proud. It is Birmingham's turn next so lets have a good turn out and show the country that we mean business. see you all there!!

If he was an 11 year old white boy the chances of him being a Christian is pretty remote. Mostly likely a healthily happy atheist. :)
 
Anyway, surely they should be asking where the WHITE parents of this supposed 'young English boy' were?

This was highlighted to me by a brummy mate originally from kashmir who's a little concerned about these kind of events.
I can certainly understand why.
 
The MCB and several Immams have made statements condeming the incident mentioned in this, all basically saying that it's bad practice as a child can't make the kind of informed choice that a committment to Islam requires...

That doesnt seem to bother the catholics, I was confirmed at 9, not really given much choice in the matter tbf

Well quite, altho I'd say that being excommunicated and becoming apostate can have very different impacts on your life generally...

from am Islamic theological stand point every child under the age of 12 is a muslim, hence why converts tend to be called reverts...
 
UBA contain a fair number of England football hoolie types who will be very much up for a ruck with 'muslims' anyhow keep them at arms lenght or dont have anything to do with them at all.

This is going to split the left as alot of swp types are very friendly with these.
 
Maybe a good day to speak out against the islamic extreamists. Instead of burying our heads in the sand.

Too many on the left has stood in soladarity with these extreamists for too long.

I can remember the ANL demonstrating in defence of abu hamsa a few years ago. And the bnp on the other side.

ANL should of been demonstrating against abu hamsa and the bnp.

I was shopping today in Birmingham town centre and noticed an SWP stall with a few people handing out flyers. It was about 1.00. I wandered over and took a flyer. It was advertising a demonstration at 3.00 (UAF?) I was mildly impressed. At least someone was responding. I chatted for 10 minutes and noticed a Socialist Party stall, a few metres down. Good, I thought. A united approach. Very refreshing that everyone is taking it seriously.

I wandered over and was handed a flyer for.......a "youth for jobs" thing. I took a flyer and asked a few questions about what had happened last Saturday. I commented that it was ugly and deserved a response. I got a harangue by some shrill old bat who yelled at me about "capitalism"

I asked why there was no mention of the issue in their propaganda. They said they were focussing on their " youth for jobs" thing. That it was more important.

I asked if they supported the 3.00 demonstration. They shrugged and said they guessed so.

The demo was a joke. Tiny, hastily put together. Terrible. But I give this to the SWP, they did something. They addressed what had happened. And it was positive. It attractive a good group of Asian kids. Including a couple of really ballsy girls who spoke on the mike and led chants. One Lad asked for the mike and started with an Allah Akhbar, but it was consciously cheeky and adolescent and it was quickly and loudly, and I must say good naturedly, put down by all his mates. After that they were all happily singing "black and white unite and fight"

Yes, it was tiny and a bit absurd. Yes the SWP's "Nazi" chants grated on the teeth but it said something. And, yes in its small way it involved some Muslim Brummy kids and, maybe, just maybe, that kid that shouted allah akhbar, may think about the fact that he stood shoulder to shoulder with white kids against this racist shit in OUR city.

Whatever my differences with the SWP, I respect them for at least doing something today.Some guys with a "Greens banner showed up. Respect set up a stall.
The Socialist Party, however were a disgrace. And you know what, a few of them looked like they knew it. Two or three of them did show up and handed out flyers for "Youth for jobs" They had absolutely nothing to say to the asian kids that showed up today. I for one was glad I attended.
Npw we have to make sure there is a good organised response if these racist gangs show up again.
 
I'm not saying I agree with the SP's approach to their chosen issue because I know nothing accept what's been posted.

What's more important though, shouting at random passersby about some Nazi's who turned and left up a week ago and weren't actually Nazis or having a go at addressing unemployment in the West Midlands?

Well, I agree the "Nazi's out" thing kind of sucks. But, a week after a racist mob screams abuse at asian shoppers in the town centre, I would have thought socialists would have Something to say. Completely ignoring the issue is not the solution either.
 
Well they're coming back on 8th August. The day villa play at home to fiorentina, with this game in mind the demo is to start at 6pm and go on till 9pm (a little optimistic given that the last demo lasted about 30 minutes before the police chased them out of New Street!).

I'm intrigued to hear peoples ideas on how to tackle the EDL and indeed if some people think we should even be bothering with them.
