Your favourite way of getting around cities

My favourite way of getting about in cities is...

Top of the bus on the front left is my favourite. Good views from up on high.

It's important to sit on the top deck of a double decker. You grow older slower that way. Next time you are on a bus you can check. On average the people on the lower deck will be older than those on the top deck. This is nearly always the case.

I think it may be to do with relativistic time dilation. The top deck of the bus is travelling faster as a result of the curvature of the earth. So for travellers on the top deck less time has passed during their journey.

This is why I always sit on the top deck of the bus.

Never let it be said that modern theoretical physics has no everyday practical applications.

Next month I shall explain how quantum physics can be used to make better coffee.

My mind went to completely the wrong thing - I actually like suburban trains! Saw a man doing his gardening in Penge naked two weeks ago from a suburban train.

I blame the dyslexia - in me, not him.

Simple question. How do you best like getting around in cities? :)

Obv not all places have all the options, but together they cover most ways of getting about.

Personally, I like buses. I like being able to hop on, sit down, put my earphones in and watch the city slide by from the upper deck. Much more convenient and less hassle than most other ways of getting around, although admittedly it's a little frustrating when you're stuck in traffic and trying to ignore the kids at the back eating stinky food and listening to shit music loudly on tinny speakers. :D

Poll to follow...

Depends where I'm going or what I'm doing, but I like driving, followed by the subway if its convenient.

I really like doing long journeys on the top of a double decker bus if I'm on my own. I can see into gardens and get ideas for good plant combinations, as well as prevailing soil conditions by seeing what grows well in a area.

Isn't 'Suburban train' a little weird :hmm:

Suburban train= train that leaves the centre of a city to the suburbs rather than a long distance inter city service from city centre to another city centre.

A classic example would be the Cross City Line in Birmingham http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross_City_Line

I don't know if there is a formal definition of such a line, because clearly there could be overlap with things like the DLR and the Metropolitan line at one end and with inter city rail at the other.

Here, ferry. It's not the fastest way to travel, but it's definitely the most relaxing and sophisticated. It gives you a chance to think, to enjoy the breeze, to think, and you can get a cup of tea for 1 TL (40p).

My favourite quick way of getting around/across central London used to be the tube, but can't use them at the the moment (too many stations with stairs & long corridors), so I'm stuck on the lower deck of buses for the foreseeable future.

Cycling without a doubt. The only problem is the parking up of it and locking. I took my bike to most of the away games last year and football clubs have little or no parking facilities. The Brompton is better for taking on the trains but feels more vulnerable locked up.
