15 minute Cities , the latest conspiracy.

Ask yourself what is the end goal of our fossil fuel burning civilization?
Look to the ancient texts well quoted in music and art. They are not there purely for aesthetics. Consider that there maybe other possibilities for our existence. And that endless growth seems to be some sort of death cult to make the planet as hot as possible.
The past few years have made it abundantly clear to not look to our leaders for answers. And thanks to social media you can mix and match your own based on no evidence.
It’s like a Adam Curtis film turned up to 11.

Opps sorry Marty

First thought yet another area of politics being decivilized. Second thought that's sort of how things developed anyway as urban sprawl consumed surrounding villages over centuries.

Something has to be done on planning large soulless estates that lack amenities has been a ghastly answer and the ideological idea of mixing owned with social is part baked. Yes reduces stigma of social housing but you also use social housing for the elderly (or should) and they have different needs and capabilities sprinkling them randomly helps no one. Having read Conspiracy Theorists Are Coming for the 15-Minute City I'm talking about them being more able to get down the shops and socialise rather than anything more dark.

I wonder what the nutjobs railing against fifteen minute cities will do when they encounter the concepts of "Deurbanisation" that are being waffled about by some of their anti-globalist/WEF/"left wing" heroes and their henchmen?

Basically, they involve dumping all urban residents out in the country for their own good, to live happy, healthier and more productive lives, with all motorised personal and public transport banned, incl electric vehicles.

Basically its a nicer, smarter, shinier and wholesomely right-wing totalitarian version of what Pol Pot tried to do..! :D

Finally spotted some stickers for this in the wild!

There was another one saying "you are banned from driving today, you drove yesterday" :D

I got a taxi yesterday where the driver started out explaining why she had fruit peel all over the front seat (which she had to clear for me to sit on)

She'd done research into[non fruit] sugar and detoxed from it. It was a short jump to 15 minute cities and how she'd noticed that each suburb was rushing to put its name up as you enter it

I got out not long after that so I don't know how it ended

Probably a good deal of turning right and some inevitable dead ends

I first came across this concept about five years ago and at the time I was pretty impressed at how it was an easy-to-explain sustainability/planning idea that people could easily get behind / understand. The fact that it's been twisted into dystopia is perhaps one of the most depressing things I've come across in years. Local COVID nutcases are all over it now.
that seems to be a key thing with the antis here they are usually anti-vaxxers and with that the rest of the range of gammony prejudices and bigotry

I've largely stayed clear of the whole 15-minute city debate.. but today our friend Martin Daubney appears to be painting a dystopian 'show us your papers' future.. the article is laughable..
