15 minute Cities , the latest conspiracy.

Someone has these credulous fucks on a leash don’t they? Walk them over to whatever issue they choose, leave a little trail of dog treats to follow. Here comes Russell Brand scampering along, Piers fucking Corbyn hot on his heels. I’m beginning to think it’s some sort of 4chan prank.

I've seen a couple of people post on social media that they're a bit put out that their campaign against traffic reduction schemes has been taken over by extremists, but this whole thing has been a mess of desperate conspiracies for two years. An incomplete grab bag of examples I've seen:
  • Local councils have been infiltrated by the London Cycling Campaign
  • Local councils have been infiltrated by Sustrans
  • Brown envelopes of cash have clearly been passed to make this happen
  • It's a racist policy designed to move traffic away from areas where white people live
  • The London Cycling Campaign is racist and is behind this policy therefore the policy is racist
  • It's all about raising house prices/gentrification
  • The councils are placing vehicle counters in places where they will get the results they need
  • The vehicle counters are a hoax, the councils make the numbers up
  • Cyclists go back and forth across the counters all day to get the numbers up
  • The research behind these schemes is faulty because the researchers are/were members of the London Cycling Campaign
  • The judge who ruled against a campaign against a scheme is married to a cyclist and therefore corrupt
  • (With modal filters in place) They're closing off roads to emergency services and people will die
  • (With modal filters replaced by cameras) It's a money making scheme
  • (After a planter was vandalised by oil, signs sprayed over, cameras broken) Cyclists did it, it was a false flag operation
  • Emergency services would complain but they don't because they've been threatened by the government
  • A map of who is conspiring with who that looks like a parody of conspiracy theories:

That's just off the top of my head. It was only a small step for this to evolve and for the big grifters to move in and start blaming "globalist puppeteers" or whatever their euphemism of the day is.

Oxford Mail just put up an interview with Joe Marsh, formerly of Pie & Mash, currently of Patriotic Alternative:

"Well, we're a white nationalist group, but we're not protesting here today because of race, this is about 15 minute cities..."

StakerOne, you've been banging on about 15 min cities. How comfortable are you allying with white supremacists?
You've also mentioned you prefer right-wing movements to the left. Are you absolutely sure you thought this through? I honestly hope you didn't and you are just very naive....in which case you should really listen to what people here tell you.

I still can't fully get my head around it - anti-cycling, pro car lobbying in the name of freedom? How could anybody possibly fall for this shit?
I have ex-mates who went down the hole with everything it entails. From 911 to chemtrails to Covid1984 to Holocaust denial. Ugly stuff.
Yet, anti-cycling, climate-change-denial and car-freedom stuff really is a different level, and I'm sure they'd at the very least 'find the idea interesting'.
It's below political thinking, even way below 'wake up sheeple'. It truly is an insult to the intelligence of mankind....I'd be embarrassed aligning myself with this stuff.

Conspiracy theories feed off feelings of helplessness and a lack of control. That's why we had people burning 5G towers during the pandemic. Plus once you're happy to explain one thing with a conspiracy theory, it's much easier to start accepting others.

I had a 'discussion' with one bloke on twitter who was very conspiraloon heavy in his battle against LTNs , I told him just to concentrate on one conspiracy theory in the future - I don't know if he took my advice as he blocked me

Human bot nets.

I wonder what the next 'green conspiracy' will be? Probably 'The Circular Economy means everyone will be BANNED from buying anything new, and everyone will have to learn to repair EVERYTHING they own or be put in prison!!!'

People will have to wear communal pants.

They're way ahead of you.

The three-minute clip, which has 862 likes and 1,100 shares at the time of writing, is captioned “Let's talk about the World Economic Forum's stated goals for 2030” with the title: “How we can stop them from stealing everything from us” (here).

It features a man who says: “Now let’s talk about their stated goal, ‘by 2030 you’ll own nothing and be happy’. So, the question is, how do they get us to that point? How can over 10 years they get us from having private property to owning nothing?”

Oh, I was pretty sure they'd already got there.

Tbh, the move to a ‘rental’ or licensing model in stuff like software is massive turd, especially having to deal with the dishonest fucks who try to sell it to you as a benefit.

It’s already spread to music, films and TV programmes. I foresee it metastasizing and going for scientific papers, Government data and the right to partake in economic transactions next.

Sure, but there's a big difference between "companies are adopting as-a-service models to maximise revenue and that sometimes has negative consequences for the consumer" and "a secret world government is banning private property".

If you already believe that there's a secret world government controlled by a mega corporate network, it's not that great a leap, tbh.

I don't believe that, to be clear, but growing numbers of people are at least sympathetic to the idea.

Stated goal sounds great to me. If the plan is implemented everyone will be happy. And if it isn’t, well let’s not worry about it then. Literally self-defined as nothing to worry about.

You def don’t mean personal property?

Or is the idea that all of these companies will be subsumed into the Government?
