Awww, sleeping like a baby!
Has anyone else experienced this type of feline behaviour and if so, how did you deal with it?
I wonder if any of you cat/kitten people may be able to share any insghts into our Siamese cat Mia's's recent behaviour.
She is almost 16 years old and an indoor cat, She's quite snooty with strangers but she is very strongly attached to me. Since kittenhood, she has slept in our bed (on my side) under the duvet. Recently, however, she has taken to licking my legs... and if she moves further up the bed, she also licks my arms and shoulders. This, as you will understand, is not ideal because her tongue is rough, so it is uncomfortable and disruptive for me - and I don't sleep well as it is - but I don't know how to break the habit without running the risk of her feeing rejected.

Thanks Epona , she did have her thyroid function checked back in July, when her early-stage kidney disease was discovered and it was found to be normal.I haven't experienced this, but a bit of online investigation suggests this change in licking habits could be an early sign of hyperthyroidism which is a common but manageable condition in elderly cats - I'd suggest booking a vet visit in the not too distant future.
Has she had a full geriatric blood panel done recently? Might be time for one if not.
Best of luck!
His whiskers are at the top of their game this eveningAwww, sleeping like a baby!

I do wonder if she has just become a little more clingy as she's aged and is this is just her exhibiting more extreme grooming habits. She is incredibly fastidious herself, so maybe she thinks I'm just in need of a bit more "cleaning",in order to come up her her exacting standards.

She has regular 6-month check-ups as it is - part of her "VIP plan" - for which I pay handsomely but she did see the vet earlier this month for her vaccinations (we got out of sync), although I forgot to mention the licking thing, as he was cooing over her so much!I think 6 monthly checkup and blood tests are recommended for elderly kitties as a lot can change in a few months, it will also let you know how her kidneys are doing, so I think having a chat with your vet is a good idea.
I know it's fucking expensive (to put it mildly!)
I recall after Radar died, you had a dream where he was playing with our 2 in the sea. I still think they would have got alongThey really are!
I love his little black chin too.
So like my Radar Your cats have always reminded me of him
I remember that clearly, it was a very comforting dream of him being happy and he told me (all animals in my dreams can speak English) that he was going into town to meet your boys and go to the beach - we don't even live near a beach unless you count the Thames foreshore but later in the dream I saw him playing in the surf with yours, so happyI recall after Radar died, you had a dream where he was playing with our 2 in the sea. Licking or grooming between two cats is a sign of great affection but as she's an 'only child' perhaps she's just transferring that affection to you. Thanks Epona , she did have her thyroid function checked back in July, when her early-stage kidney disease was discovered and it was found to be normal.
