A couple of weeks back I left for work in a hurry and dumped my dressing gown on the bed. On our return, it was apparent Mitten had made a nest of it and spent the whole day there.

Now I set it up deliberately, cos I'm a soppy twat. It usually goes away after tea and she sit near us on the sofa.

Tonight we went out again and came back to this. Pretty sure she'd live in it if we let her

Epona in the vets todays they asked if we wanted a kitten as they have 4 to rehome.

We shouldn't but I'm going to ask Mrs Numbers tomorrow when I bring her breakfast in bed, with chocolate and flowers (for her birthday) if she'd be up for another.

Ooh, thanks for the heads-up - I was there yesterday to drop off the sharps bin and used syringes and some lebkuchen but they were quite busy.

I need to see what's happening with the kitten I'm going to see after Xmas first, find out whether he likes other cats - but he's still a kitten so fixing him up with a buddy shouldn't be too problematic (I hope).
I'll check with the vet nurse once we've got him, see if they've got any left.

I hope they're (the vets) OK with letting me have a kitten in an indoor home (which is one of the reasons why I want younger ones, older cats that are used to indoor/outdoor can adjust but it's trickier and seems a bit unfair on them), shelters and that tend not to be OK with indoor only for youngsters without FIV and I can't take on an FIV+ kitten if I've got another without.

One of my cats has decided, after 7 and a half years, that sitting on my lap is actually quite nice.

He only discovered this as I was sitting on 'his' chair the other day and wouldn't move so he got up on my lap and settled down. He's done it a few times now.

Vic waited 8 years until he figured my lap was a comfy place (about 6 months ago) so better late than never

Oh you know what, I think they might collaborate with our vets, I've seen some info about them in the waiting room - so I wonder whether they work together to help keep the Cat Distribution Network (TM) moving.

I was just doing (seated) dancing to some French house, and he was sat on the desk in front of me, seemingly quite impressed (at least I'm telling myself that - he really prefers shoegaze and ghettotech).

Oh god the Cat Distribution Network(TM) cogs might be churning again in terms of a 2nd kitten, I'm waiting to hear back on something that would be perfect if it works out.

OK I have confirmation, what happened was that the breeder was contacted a few times about one of the kittens from her other queen to say that he "wasn't settling" in his new home (he's a kitten ffs, they are all the opposite end of the scale to "settled" unless they are unwell), and the person who currently has him contacted her tonight to say he is returning him to her tomorrow.
She asked if we wanted him when we come for the other one on the 28th.
I nearly took her hand off in my eagerness basically, we wanted 2. The younger one is a blue tabby point and white, this one is a few weeks older and is a chocolate point.

CDN(TM) in full operation seems to have taken note of our requirements and preferences and is trying to deliver cats that fit the bill to fill the gaps in our lives.

It's 99.9% certain we'll be getting 1, the older one depends on the person who doesn't want him returning him to the breeder as promised, if that happens tomorrow then we'll almost certainly get both.

I won't post photos or more details until we have them back here with us, hopefully in 1 week from now.

I am struggling to sleep because I won't know that she has 2nd kitten back in her care until Sunday night or Monday
I really want both, it's seriously like cats of the type we like best of all are falling into our laps.

With indoor only, you worry a bit that they need some feline company cos they don't have outdoor friends, but it needs to be the right company because they share a lot of the same space (although Radar and Jakey didn't get on well at times and we did manage that situation by having an area where Radar could escape to by himself, it wasn't ideal).
I was worrying about having a Siam and a regular, because Siams are very very active and tend towards being very dominant and tend to get along best with other Siams/OSH - so having 2 of them with the added bonus that they spent their younger kitten weeks together and know one another, sounds ideal.
Some of it does depend on whether they get along or not when reunited, if they hate one another we'll only take 1.

I don't know where I'd have been at this point without the prospect of new cats to look forward to.
I think I'd have been struggling a lot more without the hope of kittens soon.

The grief is horrible. New little boys won't stop that and I know from experience that the grief never goes away, it just becomes a bit less sharp over time - but even just thinking about potential new arrivals is a good way to focus on something else.
