Your daily cat and kitten news

I've had a few what feels like involuntary nipple piercings over the years - I don't know why they always seem to want to run across ones most delicate bodily parts!

I'm concerned that Carrie should be warm enough overnight while the heating is off. The knitted bed is cosy, but it's right next to the window.

I'm wondering about buying her an igloo, but it's hard to know if she'll use it as generally she likes either a vantage point or to be completely hidden.

She doesn't sleep on my bed, I think partly because she prefers her own space but also I keep my bedroom cold and pile the covers on, so it's not the warmest option for her.

Probably going to try her on an igloo. Previous cats have had a blanket tent on the sofa, but she doesn't sit on the sofa.

She'll be well warm enough with just a blankie on the couch. All my cats have preferred that over an actual bed.

What about one of those Snugglesafe pads that you pop in the microwave for 7 or 8 minutes and then tuck it into her knitted bed? As long as she actually uses it (and doesn't ignore it!) they stay warm for up to 8 hours.

Our cats are big fans of the felt pod from Zooplus I think it gets pretty toasty in there because they have to dangle their legs out sometimes, particularly when they have both crammed in together. And you can user it topless (oooh matron!) in the warmer months.

Or of course you could painstakingly knit and felt one yourself, only to have her turn her nose up at it.

This was her last winter, living rough on the mean streets of Sutton and eating out of the bins. I had some chat with her rescuer, photos taken by her. View attachment 451251View attachment 451252
Oh the poor cat....how on earth did she come to be living like that? Her coat looked a lot lighter than it does now she's living with you.

She must think she's in heaven now!
