Your daily cat and kitten news

After a morning spent totally static, as usual, on the bed, he went outside quite a number of times this afternoon. He didn't go outside the back yard, I don't think, and activities only ranged from staring into the middle distance to staring at a fence, but still, that's got to be exhausting.

Especially when coupled with invading a work Teams call later on.

He clearly spent some time today mentally and physically preparing himself for his demanding Teams call :)

Jakey had a check-up today because his vet wanted to see him. All looks to be well, no ill effects from the medication he's on detected by physical examination.
I declined the offer to do bloods and urinalysis given that he seems to be doing well at the moment.

He pissed in the carrier on the way back which is unlike him, it might have just been stress (and hence marking) or it might just have been that his bladder was full when he woke up and he was whisked straight up the vet with no chance to go and simply couldn't hold it in any longer!

Another day with a prolonged period outdoors. I think I even saw him asleep on the patio earlier.

Of course all this was done strategically this morning, before it started shitting it down, upon which he retired to the bed.

I've finished work for the summer, so have been spending more time building my relationship with Estée. I've had her for a year and a half now, and in that time she's never once joined me on the sofa and rarely seeks contact beyond brushing past my ankle. Still, I think we have developed a mutual respect. I sit on the settee, and she curls up in the box next to me. When I go to bed, she sleeps on a cardboard box (or in it, in winter) at the end of the bed.

On three occasions though, late at night she has jumped on the bed and become extremely affectionate, purring at the top of her voice and nuzzling my hand in a way completely at odds with her normal behaviour. I have thought and thought, but cannot distinguish a cause or pattern behind this. Then the next day we are back to no touching.

Kizzy has not been herself recently, for a few weeks, looking fed up
She has a lump/cut/something on her side :/
Been trying to have a look at it which is difficult as obviously under fur and hurts so she recoils, runs away or cries in pain
Going to vets this afternoon
Really want/need to know what it is
This was on the floor earlier, grim, hopefully that's the worst of it

Poor Kizzy. Hope it goes well at the vets and you can get to the bottom of what's wrong.

Oooh yuk, no wonder she's sore poor love.
Hope all goes well at the vets and it's just a case of a clean-up and some antibiotics to get her sorted.

Looking through some old photos. A 'kitty' from Berlin Zoo.

When we took our late girl Buttons to the vet, it was always 50:50 as to whether she would shit in the car or on the vet’s examining table. Definitely a calculated revenge move 😺
