Your daily cat and kitten news

Washing a cat can indeed be a tricky business, but alas sometimes necessary because as you rightly say, anything they get on them will end up being ingested when they groom it off themselves, where it could do far more damage.

I found a sponge bath type deal worked quite well, accompanied by plenty of treats :D

although you do find out what cat swear words sound like...

My first boyfriend had a very old cat named Tinkle, who I think I've talked about on here before. He was an absolute menace :D Former fighter, bruiser, terrorist to every cat, dog and fox in the neighbourhood. At 18 (when I knew him), he'd survived two strokes and being run over once, and despite being blind, deaf and chronically arthritic he was still a menace. Anyway, he stank like an old cat often does, so from time to time we used to put him in a sink half full of warm water and give him a gentle bath. He loved it <3 This terrible old beast used to sit in the warm water and let it ease his joints. He was a lovely thing. Much nicer than the boyfriend, in fact :D

Ha ha, that's what I said when I broke up with my ex! I missed him temporarily but I missed his cat more.

May's ex taking his turn in the sink?
:p.
Sorry, first image that came to mind :D

UPDATE: Well I used some vegetable oil to soften the paint, then worked it out with water. Both times I had to gently but firmly pick Lilith up. She wasn't happy and struggled but ultimately let me do it. She'll be annoyed with me but rather that than accidentally ingesting something toxic. She seems fine anyway, eating as usual and now she's outside getting up to god knows what shenanigans.

The treatment seems to have given her a punk rock haircut:

Cleared up some very bizarre guts from the hallway floor this morning. One bit looked a bit like an owl pellet, with some indeterminate fur-or-feathers grey and white stuff scrunched in; the other stuff might have been innards or regurgitated innards 🤔 Mystery kill. Either way, it was a disgusting start to Saturday morning.

I found what looked like a mouse’s nose on the stairs the other day while I was hoovering. Usually our boys leave rodent kidneys and livers on the doormat - either they don’t like that part or they’re giving us the best bit 🤔

Yeah, we usually get the green bile sac thing and occasionally a kidney (also on the doormat, clearly this is the preferred location). Never seen anything like this before!

some days I got a complete mouse on the kitchen floor, other days it was squishy bits - again, i was never sure if that was the leftovers or select cuts...

Came down stairs this morning to TWO piles of regurgitated biscuits . . . thank you . . . probably, Clive

The boys have got two automatic feeders, one each, and they're set for 6:00am / pm (one portion of food) 6:30am / pm (two portions of food) and 7:00am / pm (a final one portion of food) to TRY and stop the wolfing down, and subsequent hoofing UP of biscuits. It seems to work more often than not

It is dead funny when, for example this morning, both Casper and Clive are on the bed, Clive was clamped against my left leg, with his tummy presented for rubbing and then even I hear the feeders "paying out" and both of them take off the bed like the proverbial "scalded cats" in a helter skelter race down to the feeders

I have mentioned before Dexter is not much of a killer despite living in an area with plenty of prey. But the last three nights ( typically just as I’m getting ready for bed ) he’s bringing in mice . First disembowelled the other two appeared to be dead but were playing dead. Picked the last two up put them outside and shut Dex in. Is it worth shutting him in in the evening ? Not keen on shutting him in all night.
Also I’ve noticed the new kitty ( Rocco ) next door spends a lot of time in our garden and despite being much younger than Dexter is a killer would Dex be copying Rocco ?
