scottish wild kittehs at golders hill park, in that north london - encountered on the urban gathering at the weekend. this is the least crap photo i got - camera was struggling not to focus on the inner fence...
I will always remember the guy at the British Wildlife Centre (sort of between Godstone and East Grinstead) talking about their wildcats...
"You may think they look like a housecat, but there is one major difference. If you care for and feed even a feral housecat, it will come to - at the very least - tolerate you and perhaps even like you. This guy... He's behind me, isn't he? He hates me. If I took one step out of line, he'd shred my trousers in a moment. And I've been feeding him for years." :D

Scottish wildcats are top tier.
Took this picture of one back in 2021 at the British Wildlife Centre. He oozes contempt doesn't he?

Hello thread. Sorry to say, it's that time again.

RIP Little Miss. Around 20 years old we reckon. Ultimately she was a little old lady with a heart condition, so we knew it was coming. Still heartbroken though.

She walked into our lives back in 2005 or 6, we're not sure exactly. Didn't know where she came from, just kept turning up and eventually stayed. I was walking out of the front door one morning when she decided to come with me. I was just saying hello to my neighbour when Miss saunters past and my neighbour says "oh, there you are!"

Turns out they'd rescued her from a scrap yard. She'd already had a litter of kittens, one of which my neighbour kept, plus they had a dog - and then they got another cat. Can't think what the appeal of our pet-free home was :D Plus my neighbour had named her "Tiddles" so fuck them. She got pregnant again really quickly, I'll never forget her coming to get us because she knew she was going to give birth, kept miaowing at us, and heading for the stairs, over and over until we got the message.

My neighbour moved away and that was that. She loved sunshine, sitting on your lap, little mouse toys and, latterly, sleeping in the sun, preferably on your lap. Lately she'd taken to waking me up around 5am so that she could climb into bed with me. I love her and I will miss her every day.

Sorry for your loss, what a lovely cat and story.

Condolences to you and your loved ones fucthest8

What a gorgeous girl she was, and you gave her a good life.

Always heartbreaking, even when they've had a long life and it's somewhat expected - you still look round expecting to see them there, and miss them constantly.

Aw - so sorry to hear this. A great innings though and so lucky she had a great life with you 😼

Epona, you asked previously if feral Harry has been chipped. I am glad to say that Mick of Mick and Wendy did it when Harry first adopted them.

i haven't forgotten about trying to construct a letter to cats protection about how it's all supposed to work in practice.

friend in plymouth has a part time interest in a kitty who just turns up every couple of weeks, stays for a couple of days, then buggers off again. i'm not quite sure where the new law would leave them.

and in other news, downstairs kitty used some most improper language with me when i went outside earlier - think her people have gone shopping or something, and she was most offended that i didn't open her front door and let her in to her flat. i have tried to explain this to her before...
