Your daily cat and kitten news

How do you teach a cat thermodynamics? He's spending all his day outside, on the landing, or on the bed, when it's far cooler than any of those three downstairs indoors.

init!
Kizzy keeps hiding under bed upstairs where it is surely warmer! and neither of them ever lie on the tiled kitchen floor

At least Jakey has worked out that on the sofa next to me is a bit cooler than on me.
That doesn't mean I don't have him on me most of the time, just for 10% of it he gets off my lap and lays on the sofa next to me instead!

might help

I want to get one. But he goes nuts if we put a collar on him.

Probably being paranoid but I have heard of kits just wearing a collar and getting hooked up on something. It’s worse than having kids why can’t they be more obedient.
Dexter isn’t a nervous cat but he’s scared of cardboard boxes for goodness sake.

You shouldn't put anything around a cat's neck that won't break if it gets caught on something or the cat struggles - the safe type of collar for a cat is commonly called a "breakaway" collar, it usually has a thin bit or a particular type of buckle and will break easily if the cat gets caught on something or if any pressure is put on it.

A lot of people find the GPS trackers quite useful for finding where their cat lost its collar :D

I've never had a cat that will tolerate a collar at all. Old cat Rowntree, we'd put one on and always find it on a particular branch about two days later. The branch was obviously at a perfect angle for her getting it off.

We tried putting one on Orson when he was little and he freaked out so much and kept running away from us. He got his paws stuck in it and I thought he was going to break a leg. It was so stressful all round that we didn't bother again.

he's been suprisingly ok with. it fell off once, but at least you can track the tracker when it's off :)

breakaway collar, so i've just upped the friction to stop it happening again

We just had to rescue a mouse from Ozzie. I reckon it was a bit of a stupid mouse to be out in the daylight anyway.

Might have toxoplasmosis, it affects the brain to make it less afraid of being seen by predators - very specific evolutionary development of the tox parasite that makes it more likely to get spread to other hosts - it's real body horror type stuff innit?
